Alicry Sky, the world I live in from my eyes and living with heart failure - by Buffy

So, what’s the point of this page? It’s the Facebook place where I share everything I’ve made, some are for sale, some are sold before they’re even made and some sell before they are finished and a very small number of them I keep all for myself :) Always happy to teach tips and tricks, actually thinking about writing some kind of book with all my ideas on crafting, inspiration and marketing and some folk have expressed an interest but I honestly wonder if it’ll ever happen :D I’m going to use this bit as a kind of diary

What crafts have I tried? Ooh lots :) most of the ones that don’t involve wool, I tried knitting as a child and hated it. Strangely as a youngster I wasn’t really very crafty, mostly I was to be found with my head in a book, I didn’t even do “proper art” until I was 15 and then fluked an O’ Level at 16, still not sure how. I really want to have a go at pottery and love glass work but I also love wood and metal work. I don’t really enjoy pyrography, there isn’t enough colour or glitter in it :) it’s a bit like glass etching. I do love beads and jewellery making, I love the wide variety of beads available and that if I can’t find what I need I can make it with wood, acrylic, resin, string or clay, etc,

I spent a few weeks learning new skills to make some acrylic poured paint artwork and clocks. There is lots of weighing and getting mixtures right :) and trying different paints and inks and pouring fluids which is something I do love to do, I loved adding different powders and glitters and beads too and am happy to say most of the clocks made so far sold almost immediately. After four days of waiting for paint and two coats of resin to dry they take a bit too long for me, patience isn’t something I have a lot of and these clocks seem to take days to complete depending on how much resin you use or how many layers, I think it’ll be faster for me to use an acrylic finish instead. You can find one of my clocks here https://folksy.com/items/7480684-Green-and-bronze-handpainted-art-wall-clock Working with resin is interesting, a lot of people don’t realise how toxic it is to breathe in and get on your skin. Sadly too many also fail to realise that it shouldn’t be used in items intended to come into contact with food.

Encaustic art is kind of cool, it’s painting with wax on an iron. It gives a beautiful finish and creates some fantastical scenery and images. I am a messy creator though and drip the stuff everywhere :D
