Good Morning Wednesday friends!πππ§‘π
We're going back to the beginning of my little shop today, remembering that it all started with a Baltic Amber teething necklace I made for my baby grandson, who has grown over the decade into a fabulous, fun, kind and talented young chap who I love to bits. I just had to make the one, but it was a new skill I had to learn, and it became an adventure into sourcing the best materials to honour an ancient Eastern European tradition.
What happened after making the one, was that I had some materials left over and I wanted to make a necklace for his sister, my lovely granddaughter. I found more amber, of different shades and textures and fell in love with amber, and the art of knotting beads to make an item that had not only beauty, but meaning, and carried intention and a healing vibration. I varied my stringing techniques, added semi precious gemstones, and made an adult size necklace for my own aches and pains. Soon I was making and selling and between other jobs and life's winding paths in many directions, I've always had a string of beads in a needle on my board to return to.
The picture is of a necklace I made using cognac coloured baroque beads from Poland.
