Sometime in April the sun stops setting in the arctic circle and polar day begins, a period of four months of daytime round the clock. This doesn't happen in Hassocks, thank goodness. Polar day continues through the months of May, June and July, until around the 23rd of August, when the sun sets, for the first time since April. It rises again in a couple of hours, but it's then a steep slope sliding rapidly into polar night with all the stars and auroras and whatnot. I only mention Polar day because it always times itself perfectly with my workshop doors closing and subsequent reopening four months later.
So I've been in there these past few days trying to remember where everything goes and feeling the creative flow starting up. My Etsy shop will reopen in September, meanwhile you can catch a glimpse over here of what will be in stock, and I'll be selling some things on stories so keep your eyes peeled x j

Good Morning Wednesday friends!πŸŒžπŸ˜ŠπŸ§‘πŸ’›
We're going back to the beginning of my little shop today, remembering that it all started with a Baltic Amber teething necklace I made for my baby grandson, who has grown over the decade into a fabulous, fun, kind and talented young chap who I love to bits. I just had to make the one, but it was a new skill I had to learn, and it became an adventure into sourcing the best materials to honour an ancient Eastern European tradition.
What happened after making the one, was that I had some materials left over and I wanted to make a necklace for his sister, my lovely granddaughter. I found more amber, of different shades and textures and fell in love with amber, and the art of knotting beads to make an item that had not only beauty, but meaning, and carried intention and a healing vibration. I varied my stringing techniques, added semi precious gemstones, and made an adult size necklace for my own aches and pains. Soon I was making and selling and between other jobs and life's winding paths in many directions, I've always had a string of beads in a needle on my board to return to.
The picture is of a necklace I made using cognac coloured baroque beads from Poland.

Good Morning my friends! 🌞
It's been a while ( I am a creature who hibernates seasonally) and I hope you're doing well? We're talking Tarot today, it's one of the offerings in my Etsy shop and it's delivered via Etsy Messaging which saves me a trip down to the jolly old Evri shop in this chilly weather. Tarot is a great tool for self-reflection and it never fails to fascinate me how insightful and powerful it can be.
We have to approach it on its own terms, though. There is a layout Dave and I use for answering 'yes or no' questions, and I offer that as an email reading, ( I open my books periodically for email readings...keep an eye on my stories) The layout is really cool, using 8 cards in a specific format. Other than using this spread, I generally encourage people to ask open questions...things like, 'what do I need to know about my work/career/relationship' which yield SO much more information for us than a straight this/that yes/no.
I love that there are no rules to Tarot. No one owns it (of course individual deck creators own the copyright to their work) and there's no right or wrong way to approach it. I love that you don't need to be able to read to get answers from Tarot. All of us who are lucky enough to have the gift of sight can be moved by the images we see. Feelings and thoughts and associations arise from the shapes and colours and forms we are seeing in single or combinations of cards.
Have you got any questions about my tarot practice? 😊✨🌞
Have a great day x

Good Morning friends! 🌧️ How is it Thursday already? Look, I'm going to be honest as it's just us here...the materials for my Element collection haven't arrived, so it's only 3/4 finished but we're launching anyway!!! Fire is the first picture, I'm a fire sign and you know me and bonfire πŸ”₯ so it was the first one to be completed. And we're in Sagittarius season, a beautiful fire sign so at least that's on time! The other two are Air and Water (that's a nautical compass, which has a labyrinth on the back! I'll show and tell in greater detail soon but I thought you'd like to see what's been happening over here in between getting restocked for the season! Earth will be joining the collection when I've made it!! I'm a small biz, this is how it rolls sometimes but I keep on keeping on!
Have a great Thursday whatever you're doing, at least the rain has stopped for a while! X,😊😘

Good afternoon! I'm a bit late posting today as I had to make a very special birthday delivery to someone very important to me first thing this morning! Its rather grey out there today, and we're two and half weeks away from the shortest day so I thought a bit of bright colour was in order on the feed today ! πŸ’•πŸ’—πŸ©·πŸ’œβ™₯οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ©΅πŸ’™ ✨ All my coloured hide is hand dyed and the colours are individually mixed and blended and often painted over with iridescent pearly, silver or gold glaze. Have a look in the shop at my various colour collections...I will be replenishing some of the colours and sizes over the next few days, so check back in soon!
Have a great rest of your Wednesday 😊😘

Do I still sell leather travellers notebooks? Yes I do...pop over to the shop, they're all in stock ready for Christmas gifting! 😊
Do I still journal? Oh yes I do! And my preferred insert/book of choice? For 2025 I am going to be languishing inside the A5 and B5 Common Planners, full year, vertical, Caramel and gold with the most lovely Tomoe River paper. This is not a cheap option, but journalling has been a huge part of my life in the past few years and the Common Planner is the perfect combination of planner and journal. I love my Hobonichi, but there are a lot more distractions on the pages, and the page per day doesn't suit my journalling style like the 367 pages in the CP does, because I have the freedom to write as little or as much on any given day and not waste one line. And I do write A LOT...hence buying the two largest sizes. I've journalled inside a B5 for quite a few years now...it's my 'bedside book' but the books I was using have been discontinued. I spent last new year looking for a replacement B5...it is quite an unusual size...and I didn't find anything that I loved until now. The A5 is my work/home planner. I know from the Hobonichi that vertical layouts suit me best, but Sterling Ink offer horizontal too, if that's your thing.
The pages are absolutely minimal...no bank holidays or other stuff to distract. My Hobonichi is stuffed with printed photos and memorabilia, although I haven't painted or stained the pages with inks like I used to. My Common Planners won't have any of that in them...they will be for written words only!! The Hobonichi runs out next May, as Japanese academic year begins in April, so I'll see how I feel about continuing the more scrapbook style journalling then. The photos are lovely to look at but also a bit annoying when I'm just craving simplicity and words.
I just thought I'd share these lovely books with you today as I'm so happy to have them!
