My favourite wire is copper for it's depth and richness of colour, and I also enjoy working with silver, but to keep costs down I use silver plated copper wire. All wires are tarnish free. Recently I've expanded into creating ornaments - paperweights, Tree of Life Hanging Ornaments, and Mandala Hanging Ornaments. The price of each item reflects the time it takes to create, component part prices an
d packaging. I keep my prices to a minimum using the following formula:
2.5 times materials and packaging, plus 10% of that total for overheads, plus labour which I charge at the national living wage £8.25. The most expensive parts to my work are the gemstones, so gem heavy creations are most expensive. When creating pieces of jewellery, I work organically, allowing the gems and wire to take me where they want. Sometimes I start with a plan but more often than not the plan gets changed before the end! Each piece is packaged in good quality presentation boxes. I like to be inspired by the natural world, especially the sea, and beach. I collect sea glass and use it in making jewellery, and collect pebbles and use those too.
