Thinking of selling your gold might seem straightforward, but there’s more to consider than you’d think... 💰

As a goldsmith with over 20 years’ experience, I’ve seen people rush into selling without fully understanding what they have, and that can lead to missed value.

So here are my 3 pro tips before you sell your gold ⬇️

1️⃣ Know what you’ve got
Gold comes in different purities, and that has a big impact on value. What looks similar can be worth very different amounts, so it’s always worth getting it properly checked.

2️⃣ Understand how it’s valued
Gold is priced on weight and purity, and stones are often valued separately, or sometimes not at all. Make sure you’re clear on exactly what’s being included.

3️⃣ Don’t rush the decision
Once it’s sold, it’s gone. If a piece has sentimental value, it’s always worth considering whether it could be remodelled into something new instead.

Taking a little extra time before you sell can make a real difference, both financially and emotionally.

Sleeping in your jewellery might seem harmless, but it can cause more wear than you’d think... 💎

As a goldsmith with over 20 years’ experience, I’ve seen plenty of jewellery damaged by everyday habits, and sleeping in it is one of them.

So here are my 3 reasons why:

1️⃣ Chains can twist and weaken
Necklaces can easily knot, pull, or catch while you sleep, which weakens the links over time.

2️⃣ Rings can get stressed
Your hands still move during the night, and that pressure can loosen stones or put strain on settings.

3️⃣ Earrings can bend or become uncomfortable
Studs and hoops can dig in, bend, or loosen without you noticing until later.

Taking your jewellery off before bed only takes a moment, but it can help keep your favourite pieces looking their best for longer.
