1941 Universal Geneve, Wasn't planning on sharing this one just yet but it got a fair bit of interest in my stories so thought I'd show it to a few more of you and ask -

I bought some lovely quality watches yesterday but this is the only one that I'm completely happy with (more on the perils of watch fairs next time).
Ridiculously underrated 1970s Avia Marino Chronograph with the Landeron 248 movement inside. Waterproof to 20 atmospheres (200m), this could once upon a time qualify as a professional divers watch, and a bloody good looking one at that. A strong look without overwhelming the eye, this is how a tool watch should be. Contemplating a quality beads of rice bracelet from the stash or perhaps a shark mesh, happy to hear some suggestions.
Should be for sale but I'm wobbling, give me a shout if you're interested

Some of my favourite things I didn't buy today at the Birmingham watch fair. For me the Vacheron Constantine was hands down the finest watch there, I did get to try it on but always knew it was a pipedream. Thanks to Christian for letting me try it on anyway. Congratulations to whoever got it.
The Memovox is a model I've wanted for years and it was nice to see just how cool it is IRL. The NOS Doxa is a deliberately bad photo because I don't want anyone else to have it πŸ˜†
It's actually available from Alex who I met for the first time today and I have to say he's a lovely chap with great taste and like me is a collector first and a seller second only he's got a better budget than me, his account is frankly dangerous. That final pic shows you don't have to spend much to get a really funky watch that stands out from the crowd. Yeah it's rough but what a great shape.
Not showing you anything from JoJo but the guy's a dude it's always great to bump into. You probably already know but he's got an insane range of menswear and watches in a real bricks and mortar shop, well worth a pilgrimage to Sheffield.
I did spend more than I planned on more watches than I planned, as a wise man once said, everyone has a plan until you get punched in the face by lovely watches.
I'll be showing my purchases over the next week or so, need to decide if and what I'm keeping first. As for the one's that got away...

Nearly everyone knows the Omega Seamaster as the perfect "any & every occasion" watch but there's dozens of affordable alternatives out there, most brands had an equivalent. Some added their own stylish twist. One underappreciated example is the Citizen Crystal Seven 33, regular date window but check the full day window prominently displayed at the 12 o'clock position. I doubt all 33! Jewels are actually beneficial but it's undoubtedly a great quality movement and the same as that used in their top drawer Chrono Master (albeit that is finished to a higher standard). Pretty cool take on the beads of rice bracelet too! hence the corny wrist roll. Dating to 1967, the same time as Omega's finest Seamaster but at a fraction of the price and arguably more unique

Off to Movie town for this lot, Making the finest vintage champagne on a lemonade budget is what I do for costume work. You'd never believe how rich the characters are from looking at them but that's the magic of film, the camera lies all the time 😁
Speaking of which, they're a horrible bunch of people who deserve each other, the character bio's I saw made me hoot.(not the cast obviously, they're great). Really looking forward to seeing this when it comes out.
Enjoy your weekend

Although now I've realised how yellow that crystal is and how much nicer the dial is I might have to see if I can find a replacement that matches the dimensions.
Rare 8 days movement, not a common thing in a wristwatch

It's hot and the birds are singing and cool stuff is arriving. Currently on test is this ultra funky Sandoz bangle watch from what's fast becoming my favourite era for ladies watches, the early 70s. Responding to the glut of cheap quartz watches flooding the market, the Swiss watch industry went all out for style. The case and dial mimic the Grima "Emerald" range for Omega while giving it their own twist by fitting it to a stainless steel bangle. Super comfy, super cool and super affordable. Let me know if you want to know more

I've been on an Easter hunt today but didn't find any chocolate 😒
Think I did ok though, nice Seiko with original beads of rice bracelet and a couple of lovely Deco era pocket watches. Might have to keep the chain for the time being.
