As pretty and purple as a pretty purple thing, this rare Russian Charoite stone is set in an intricate basket of fine silver, backed with vintage 1930s filigree, and hangs on an 18" chain. Finished today and available now by contacting me directly. You have to believe me when I say a photograph can't do justice to this stone - it's beyootiful!

84g of solid, 4mm sterling silver make this hand forged chain link bracelet a bit of a statement piece. Not one for flouncing about the place. Wear it and mean business. It's 24cm long and because of the dimensions, fits a medium wrist. And it carries my hallmark, assayed in Edinburgh, so you know it's the real deal.

Another hallmark edition! The original signature Jagged bangle sold to a lady from Denver, visiting Scotland on holiday. I don't often make 2 of anything, but I liked this design so much I decided to do just that. Having said that, the jaggy bits are different, and this one is hallmarked, so technically, I've still not made 2 of them... Available now, and no, it doesn't hurt to wear!

Exciting post! I have my own hallmark!

This brand new Squared Circle ring is the first Jagged Jewellery piece to be hallmarked with my name. From left to right, the sponsor's mark, that's me - my initials - Paul Gilfillan. Next is 925, showing purity of 92.5% - Sterling silver. Next is a lion rampant, showing Scottish silver. Next is a castle, which denotes it was assayed in Edinburgh, and finally, the letter A, denoting 2025. The UK hallmarking tradition is over 700 yrs old and is a guarantee of quality, ensuring makers and their work are recorded in history, which means that in 100 years someone could look at this ring and know I made it!

The ring itself is a square AND a circle. It has 4 faces but NO corners. It has a beautiful, bevelled comfort fit and will fit a size Q or R (it's somewhere in between). And it's available now! Gimme a shout if you'd like it.

Been a wee while away from the bench, but this is a replacement wedding ring for a customer who lost his after repeatedly cleansing his hands with alcohol gel on a family day out to a farm zoo. 8mm band with hammered 4mm centre, polished edges and a comfort fit (bevelled on the inside). Collected this afternoon, fits nicely, and he's back in the good books! I enjoyed making this one. Simple's often best eh?

Went on a glass painting course at the weekend with to learn some new skills and hopefully enable me to develop my repertoire. I learned SO much in a jam-packed 2 days, but it's only a start. Staining glass, painting on it with dip pens and brushes, applying matts, creating abstract effects (like the blue mottling on the face), how to select the right paint for the right glass, how to tell one side of a pane from the other (yes, each side can behave differently!), how long to fire it in the kiln and at what temp and much more. Exhausted but inspired.

No future. The latest in the accidental series of album art reworked in glass. Jamie Reid's iconic cover distilled to core components and fitted up in beautiful yellow and pink. That's Kraftwerk, Pink Floyd, New Order and the S*x Pistols done. What next?

New Order Complete. Disappointed not to get to Rose & Thistle Market in St Andrews at the weekend due to illness. This New Order inspired piece was due to make its debut on the stand and instead spent the weekend with me, miserable. I'm better now, and this is the third in a series that I didn't know I was making, inspired by album covers; in this case, their 2017 release Music Complete. Not all stained glass looks the same.

Blue side of the Moon. A new piece makes its debut at Rose and Thistle Market, St Andrews, on Feb 1st. Never been a fan of prog rock but some of the artwork is nifty. Maybe you can see where this one gets its inspiration.
