The suspension bridge over the River Ness on 31 August 1959, the last day it was open to traffic prior to its demolition and replacement with the bridge that spans the river today. On the left is the temporary bridge which was built in 1939, the year the suspension bridge was due to be replaced, before the outbreak of brought things to a halt

A horse at the Black Isle Show, on this day in 1949. It was the first staging of the Show since the end of WWII and around 6,000 people attended.

The floral clock in front of Castle, July 1990. It was part of the town's displays for the "Beautiful Scotland in Bloom" competition. The clock was 4.5 metres in diameter with the mechanism buried beneath. It was surrounded by three heraldic symbols depicting the coats of arms of Inverness's twin towns - Augsburg, La Baule and St.Valéry-en-Caux. Inverness Castle Experience
