Their shop is in the attractive and historic smallmarket town of Hungerford to be found at the heart of the beautiful North Wessex Downs, on the crossroads of four counties – Hampshire, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire. The company is owned by Greg and Rachel Furr – a goldsmith and a gemmologist. Greg studied at London’s Sir John Cass College and opened his first jewellery shop in Wokingham i
n the 1970′s. He came to Hungerford in 1995. His wife Rachel is a gemmologist and antique jewellery specialist who spent ten years with Bonhams in London. Furr & Co’s No. 7 Bridge Street shop was purchased in 2005. The George III Grade II listed building took some six months to restore and Greg and Rachel opened the doors to their new shop in February 2006. differs somewhat from the average High Street jewellery shop – the Georgian interior is comfortably elegant and neo-classical style display cabinets in dark blue and gold leaf provide a sympathetic backdrop for the uncluttered displays of jewellery – nothing of the ‘chain’ here.
