The Weird and The Wonderful Cakes and Crafts I started baking when I baked my sons 3rd birthday cake back in 2006.

That then started my journey but despite doing hundreds of cakes (as Cakes by Shaz), I’ve never had the confidence to start my own business until now.

Cake was vanilla bean cake with vanilla bean buttercream and white chocolate ganache. Flowers I made from paper and the fab edible logo supplied by The Maker Fox

This was a very large and tall cake for a 50th birthday. request was for a Liverpool FC theme and to also have their dog on top. Bottom cakes was a 10” vanilla sponge cake with strawberry jam and vanilla bean buttercream, middle tier was a double barrel 8” with lemon 🍋 cake, lemon curd and buttercream and top was chocolate cake with white chocolate buttercream 😋

This post is a cross between March meet the maker and meet my maker (aka my mum). My mum is my cheerleader, my best friend and she is a talented machinist/dressmaker, knitter and gardener (amongst her other talents!). I started my baking journey 27 years ago when I made my sons 3rd birthday cake, and I have travelled so far since then. Happy Mother’s Day to you all 😊
