What a weekend!!! On the run up to ACJ Cornwall Tresor Exhibition I’ve just not had the bandwidth to post on socials with PZArts CIC dominating my life…however, I wanted to share the results from one of the workshops I ran at Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery Don’t these look fantastic! It was a noisy affair, but the lovely attendees embraced the hammering to rivet their copper cuffs together to take home a special treasure.

A massive thank you to organisers and members for putting on such a well organised and well attended event. Such a diverse range of style and unique designs…and an absolute bounty of talent! So honoured to have been part of this weekend ā¤ļøTx

What a weekend! On the run up to the Tresor Exhibition I’ve just not had the bandwidth to do social media with the project going on too - however, my usual chatting to everyone I know about the event worked a charm and I was so pleased to see many familiar faces pop in to say ā€˜hello’.

I’m sharing the makes from one of the workshops I ran in the museum education room ā€˜riveted copper cuffs’…don’t they look fantastic? It was a noisy affair (and I forgot to bring the ear defenders!!!) but the lovely attendees embraced to brutish hammering of rivets to fix their cuffs together and have a super treasure to keep forever.

A massive thank you to the amazing organisers and members who put on an awesome and diverse display of style, design and use of materials and absolutely showed Cornwall up to be bursting with talented people (but we already knew that!). So very honored to have been part of such a super event ā¤ļø Tx

ā˜”ļøšŸŒæ Mizzle? What mizzle?

Cornish weather kept us guessing (as usual), but we weren’t about to let a bit of mizzle stop us! We huddled up outdoors for a brilliant on-the-spot chat with Christine from BBC Radio Cornwall šŸŽ¤šŸ’¬

šŸ“» We’ll let you know as soon as we hear when it’s going out - so keep your ears open and your eyes peeled!

In the meantime, if you haven’t already, pop a pound in our Crowdfunder to help us buy back the old Penzance School of Art buildings and create a home for heritage arts & crafts šŸ’›
šŸ‘‰ (You can skip the tip - just click ā€˜enter custom amount’ and set it to zero if you’d like)

✨ And if you believe in what we’re doing – please share our page/account/website with your friends. Every share helps us grow!

We are PZArts CIC raising funds to buy and restore the historical Penzance School of Art buildings to home a traditional arts and crafts school, and practice space for our community.

♄ Hello lovely jewellery friends ♄

I am so pleased to reveal a project I have been working on with a colleague for the last couple of months. As you all know I am proud to teach jewellery making skills in a beautiful old building called The Penzance School of Art. Well, this and other attached buildings are to be sold by the college who own them. At first this seemed like a really sad thing...an end of an era...but then I started to feel like actually, it could be an opportunity...actually, this could be something exciting....ACTUALLY, this could be something absolutely AMAZING. So, Sara Ross and I worked on a proposal to convince the college to SELL us the buildings...the proposal based around creating a heritage Arts and Crafts hub in Penzance. I'm over the moon to share that the college loved the idea and are giving us some space to attempt to raise the funds for the purchase.

So, in the last six weeks we have formed a CIC and started reaching out to funding bodies to help us on this journey. The grants that we hope to be awarded will all need match funding, so we are getting a fundraising timeline together... first we have launched a Crowdfunder to help us get the first round of funding that will really get the project off the ground. You can follow us or visit our website www.pzartscic.co.uk Please come along and watch the journey unfold (and if you have a pound to spare for the Crowdfunder we would be very thankful šŸ™)

I don’t often run these sessions, however I have been requested to do a sea glass ring workshop āš’ļø

If you’d like to join the metalsmithing fun it’s on Friday 14th June at 10am in my fully equipped workshop in Hayle and is Ā£85.

During this session you will learn how to make a chunky ring or set of stacking rings (your choice) with a bespoke setting for your seaglass, before learning how to set the glass and polish.

All materials (although you might want to bring your own sea glass treasure), tea, coffee and snacks provided. This is a really comprehensive lesson, perfect for total beginners and improvers alike.

If you’d like more info just drop a comment below.
