“I’m having the worst day you could possibly imagine, so bad in fact that it’s almost funny. I’ve lost all of the orphanages money and may well lose the orphanage itself, I have pieces of Danish pastry stuck in my hair and in other places I can’t begin to describe, I’m wearing slippers outdoors in winter, I have a ladder in my tights so big the fire department could rescue kittens from trees with it, I just this morning found out that the man of my dreams has seen more women than a bingo caller, my head is full of gunk and my stomach feels like it’s about to fall out of me, so please
do something because I think I might be losing my mind!”
Elisabeth Scrooge is a musical Christmastime tragi-comedy written for seven female principals, three male principals and chorus, though several of the female cast can be gender switched
to male characters. Due to the nature of some of the dialogue and the more adult themes the play touches upon it is intended for an older teen to adult cast; however several children are
required for small roles.
