Hello to all the new faces on here 👋
I’m Olivia, the designer, maker and founder of Olivia Taylor.
Here’s the story of how I became a jeweller:
Almost 11 years ago, I started studying Interior Design at Glasgow School of Art. I’ve always been interested in objects, interiors, fashion and buildings. Anything structural that you can touch or move through excites me.
I loved studying interiors but something was always missing. I loved the model making but slightly hated the vector works. My brain just didn’t enjoying the CAD side. I looked through my portfolio to art school and realised I’d been making jewellery the whole time. Big love to Dilys, Susan and Will ❤️
So I switched to jewellery and silversmithing - still design but just on a different scale. Then in 2019 I graduated with a BA(Hons) shortly followed by a Degree Show and New Designers Show in London where I sold almost half my degree show collection. Looking back, it was a pretty mad time.
In the summer of 2020, I launched my Ondulée Collection and the start of the brand Olivia Taylor.
Did you know Ondulée translates from French as corrugated? My uncle from La Rochelle helped me come up with this as the word corrugated doesn’t sound quite as nice elegant.
The collection is a continuation of my debut Degree Show collection. Inspired by a trip to the island of Naoshima, Japan, I aim to reinterpret the hard concrete shapes and rippling water found in architect Tadao Ando’s structure, Benesse House.
Each piece has my signature Ondulée design - a structural yet fluid design - which catches the light beautifully. Every piece is hand made in my Glasgow studio using recycled precious metals, making each individual piece exclusive and special.
Following the Ondulée Collection, I’ve launched the Mini Ondulée Collection - a series of elegant pearl Ondulée pieces - and the MAD Ondulée Collection - a series of more statement pieces launched at the Museum of Art and Design (MAD) in New York.
This year, I’ve been working on a very special new collection alongside focusing on commissions. I can’t wait to show you what’s been in the works!!
Stay tuned,
Olivia x
