A really special replacement wedding/ engagement ring for my mum ❤️

Mum’s had her mother's gold and diamond brooch sitting in a drawer for nearly 50 years – it was a 21st gift from her dad (my great grandad). She also had two gold bands she always wore, one from my dad when I was born and one her parents wedding ring.

When her arthritis got too bad to wear them anymore, we knew it was finally time to do something with them – something we’ve talked about for ages.

We made a chunky U-shaped silver band to work around her knuckle and changing hands. I used gold from the brooch and both rings to create an organic, flowing textured top, and off set the original diamond to compliment the design.

We are both so pleased with how it turned out. Feels really special to have made something so personal and full of my own family history 🤍

The same diamonds and gold used in my sister in laws engagement ring for an extra layer of special ✨️

ITS TIME...

To look out your old gold sitting in a box and get something fresh and something you love made!

If it's a small detail on a silver piece or a nice buttery golden chunky bangle, i'm open to it! Emails and DMs always open to discuss ❤️

Also gorgy wedding bands + engagement rings just make sense with remodeled gold! The last image brought 2 families gold together for one band - so lovely!

Here are some of my favourite repurposing projects - all using sentimental gold.

There are some limitations to the process and a lot of work but still better value than buying new gold rn 😭

In this past year I have been blown away by the response to my signature Padlock Rings. They were a firm favourite at last year and get so much attention at every event and market I go to. Makes me feel all fuzzy inside that you want to buy into these labours of love ❤️

Since this time last year the price of gold and silver has gone through the roof. Silver has tripled in price since last January- what was once an accessible yet luxury metal that I could go big scale with and get experimental with is now catching up with gold prices and throwing everything into a spin.

I love working big and creating hand fabricated, sculptural jewels but it's getting harder and harder for makers now to put out that expense without garunteed sales.

Figuring out how to keep it exciting and creative but there will be more price increases coming soon especially to the labour intensive pieces like these babies!!

Be kind to your jeweller friends we're all crying every metal order that we make!!!
