Do you know the story behind my Lunaria collection?
As a little girl, I remember honesty (proper name - lunaria) growing all between the roses in the front garden. And I loved taking the seed pods, and very gently rubbing them so that the seeds fell out leaving an exquisite translucent empty pod.
Once I had my own garden, I tried growing it myself, but with absolutely hopeless results. I continue to try. And I continue to fail.
And over the years, I’ve played about with trying to recreate the essence of the papery-ness of the honesty seedpod in silver. But I’ve never been terribly happy with the results. Until I discovered precious metal clay.
Fine silver metal clay allows me to achieve a much more organic, and layered design - and lends itself to being finished to a pale almost frosted surface.
Each piece is unique. Even the earrings within a pair are subtly different from each other. Just like nature, no two seedpods are the same.
