I like the surface irregularities in these and the pewter really sings when given a good polish. Extremely satisfying.

🎁 FREE GIFT 🎁

If you pop by on Pollokshaws Road this weekend and buy something at my pop-up you can choose a Xmas decoration to take home for free.

These are made from coloured raku clay, sometimes known as nerikomi or agateware. I’ve been using them to test out some ideas for my ceramic work, which I hope to bring into my main practice in 2025 if I can finally get my kiln set up.

A much needed peaceful hour of playing with some new ceramic beads and dreaming about some new necklaces..

I’ve been making these with scraps from my ceramic work. They are made from unglazed raku clay, coloured and marbled. They don’t look like much before they go in the kiln but after a high firing the colours really come out.

I’m taking my time to build up a stash of beads, getting them out every now and then to have a think about what they might become. Slow jewellery!

But actually all my new work comes this way - I’ll do a few experiments, coming back to them every time I have a few hours to spare, thinking about them in the mean time, and eventually something crystallises!

I’ve started testing out ideas for a special event coming up in December.. This was my first attempt at sand casting pewter and it was very enjoyable - a pleasingly direct way to generate shapes.
