I met Sue quite a while ago when she trusted me to use some of her old diamonds and turn them into new pieces of jewellery filled with meaning and memories.

Now she came back again, this time asking me to be part of her son’s journey and help create his engagement ring.

She really wanted to use one of the family diamonds as the main stone, keeping that sentimental connection alive through another generation. But naturally there was a worry the round diamond may feel too small on its own in today’s world where social media is full of huge diamonds in every shape and size.

From the very beginning, her son was deeply involved in the process and every decision was made together. I always love when somebody truly wants to take part in creating a ring for the person they love, because it makes the piece even more personal.

Together we came up with the idea of creating an oval illusion setting using the inherited round diamond in the centre, with two additional diamonds set vertically to create the look and flow of one beautiful oval stone.

The setting itself had to be very intricate because we didn’t want the eye to focus on claws or settings. We wanted the three diamonds to feel soft, elegant and almost as one.

We then finished the design with two beautiful pear shaped lab grown diamonds on the shoulders which balanced the ring perfectly.

I truly believe there is something beautiful about bringing inherited diamonds together with modern lab grown diamonds and creating a new piece with its own story to tell.

The final ring feels elegant, clean and unique while still keeping the heart of the original family diamond at the centre of it all.

Congratulations to both of you, and thank you for trusting me to be part of such an important chapter in your lives.

Inlaying a solid gold band into the centre.

A slow and precise process, but it’s starting to come together beautifully.

Full process video coming soon. Exciting.

A very special piece for some very special people.

I first met Barry a few years ago when he trusted me to make an engagement ring for one of his sons. Recently, he came back through the door with another important mission for his other son.

We worked together using family diamonds, an inherited sapphire full of meaning, and recycled 18ct yellow gold from the family to create something completely personal.

We designed the ring together through CAD, printed multiple wax models, and adjusted every detail until his son was completely happy. The setting was cast in platinum, while the rest was handmade by me in the workshop.

A lot of trust and a lot of meaning behind one ring.

Thank you Barry, and congratulations to the happy couple.

The part people rarely see.

Preparing the tapered baguette settings by hand, making sure every stone fits exactly as it should.

Full video coming soon.

A lovely friend brought in her wedding band, passed down to her and full of meaning.
Over time it had become too thin to safely resize or wear, so we made the decision to remake it — keeping the original gold at its heart.
The 18ct white gold was melted down, refined with additional metal, then reshaped and rebuilt. I re-engraved the pattern by hand, bringing it back to how it should be.
It looks beautiful again.
Thank you for your trust with something so personal.

People often ask me when I find the time.
The truth is — it’s hours, organisation, and staying focused.
Today is a full bench day. Repairs, finishing, adjustments.
But this morning I also had a lovely couple walk in to talk about an engagement ring.
We designed something beautiful together — it’s currently being 3D printed so they can see and feel it before we move forward.
That’s how my days usually run.
Consultations. CAD. Casting. Repairs. Stone setting.
One piece at a time.

A few of the latest CAD designs from this week.

It’s been fully booked — clients travelling in from across Devon and further afield. I don’t take that lightly.

Grateful to now start building these properly in the workshop.
