This year I really got into wearing french hair pins, such a simple, pretty and practical way of throwing your hair up during busy tasks or warmer days. I love the simple, effortless, chic look that comes with french hair pins. So with my first day back at the bench this is what I ended up making. Hammered copper and brass, with a sweet halo detail that just adds that cute detail to the hair.
I’m 100% going to make more of these to pop on the shop.

Back at the bench! My shops (online) always open but I haven’t had bench time in so long. I’ve been busy studying Interior Design this year. My studies finish in April and then I think i’ll have more time on my hands again to consistently make jewellery. But today is the first in a long time i’m actually finding time to be at my bench which is so exciting for me! Oh how i’ve missed it. Today will be free flowing creativity and realigning myself with this whole process 🥰

Yesterday I sold a pair of these copper and brass stripe hoop studs which reminded me I have an etsy shop! I always prefer website orders as it pays me better than etsy but my etsy shop is there for anyone who prefers the security of buying on a platform like etsy.
All of my copper or brass ear pieces have silver contact areas (studs for example) to lessen the chance of irritation for those who react to copper or brass but would still love to enjoy these beautiful metals. My Etsy store stocks all my ready to go items so that means quick delivery!

I pretty much live in this ring. It’s one of my favourite pieces. In my artwork generally i’m very controlled, fine clean lines, clear images etc but through jewellery making last year I discovered the joy of intuitive and free flowing creativity. Jewellery making is the one and only creative outlet I have allowed myself to just let go and let what happens, happen. And they are my absolutely favourite pieces.
I’m still not finding any time to consistently return to my bench. Jewellery making is so incredibly time consuming and for me a really meditative process, it’s not something I can personally just dip in and out of. With my little family we are currently in a time of absolute busyness in our lives. So many other things are taking priority at the moment. But I am just itching to return to my bench, and when I do the first thing i’ll be doing is more creative free flowing intuitive pieces 🥰

I’m really really missing time at my bench at the moment. I need to get back to it soon though to polish up on two things: my skills and 3 sets of earrings i’ve made recently 😅

A little update on commission pieces…
Morning 🌞 Time at my bench has been limited lately and will continue to be limited for the next couple of years while I have to prioritise some other things. Jewellery making for me is a passion I am always so excited to return to and the years will come where I will have so much time to devote to jewellery making and they will be wonderful years. But for now a few other things are having to take priority of my time and with it using my time wisely when I can’t be at home or at my bench (which is more often the case at the moment)
So for now I won’t be able to take on many commission pieces, the wait time would be too long for commission pieces which I feel would not be fair.
Doing commission pieces are some of my absolute favourite pieces to do. Bringing the ideas to life of both the customers vision and my personal artistic expression, it’s a gorgeous collaboration and a process I hugely enjoy. So commissions are high on my list to be able to return to in the future.
For now my time at the bench 🔨 is limited. So i’ll be making what I feel inspired to make in the precious moments of time I do get at my bench. One off pieces and the ongoing collections will continue to slowly grow and expand over time while commissions and made to order pieces will take a temporary back seat.
As it stands my online shop will be where you can continue to buy pieces I have made that are available and ready to go while I work on making new pieces and building a collection that I will release once or twice a year (depending on how much I have managed to make).
I am currently slowly working on pieces that I hope to release as a drop towards Christmas this year while in the mean time there are currently other pieces available to go on my shop (link in bio) www.marciawaldstadt.com
Pictured are a pair of earrings I made at the beginning of the year. A imperfect pair, experimental piece. Using recycled silver and brass and a couple of lost stones I had lying around. Better photos to come soon.

I did it! I finally has some time at my bench and as it always is, it feels like coming home each time.
A gentle easing back in with something familiar, I made a small batch of Sunburst Mandala Stud Drop Earrings in both age effect brass and sterling silver. Another variety of the same design has also been made but am still in the process of polishing those babies up.

Still not had the chance to get to my bench 😭 next week perhaps? 🤔 Anyway here is my Mandala Sunburst pendant necklace. I made a few of these over the festive period and decided to add a little curve to the pendants (they usually lay completely flat like a penny) and I think I prefer them like this with a little more shape to them.

Eeek… i’m hoping next week or the week after latest, i’ll be making the sweet return to my bench and all my tools that have been patiently waiting for my return.
It’s been a little while since the last time I created some jewellery, i’m feeling rusty even at the thought. But i’m hoping i’ll be back in the intuitive flow of making some interesting experimental pieces again. I’m definitely feeling the need to make some beautiful pieces with some precious stones I have.
Looking forward to it and i’ll be sharing some bits and pieces on here again.

Annnd that’s a wrap for taking anymore made to order pieces, my calendar is now fully booked with final made to order requests (thank you’s later in this post) 🧡 already made and ready to post items are still available on both my website and Etsy store (links in bio) for any of those last minute pressies you may need.
So with that in mind i’ll share with this post a message before wrapping up my first year in jewellery making…
Last year I went on a jewellery making day course with friends (that I almost considered cancelling last minute because I suddenly just didn’t feel like I would enjoy making jewellery) and within one hour of being there I was absolutely gripped by the process and falling deeply in love with making jewellery in a way I had never before felt about a creative process. I also ended up committing myself to training and learning the skill in a way I had never committed to anything like this before. And with every time I sit at my bench and pick up my tools I feel like i’m returning home to something i love deeply. It might sound ott 😅 but truly it’s how I feel.
Towards the last half of the year i’ve been able to really find my own style and creative expression through my work as well as finding ways to work with customers and creating ideas together, bringing our combined vision to life has been an honour and I can’t wait to continue taking on these exciting projects with more customers in the future.
I am so excited for another year of growing through, expressing and making jewellery.
But mostly THANK YOU, honestly from the absolute whole of my heart, to everyone who has ordered from me, worked with me, supported me and trusted me in making you something special. I can’t express enough how much it has meant to me every time i’ve had a order or request to make you one of my pieces.
Jewellery making is a slow and mindful process and with it I try to have the same approach when it comes to making this a business venture. It’s passion and love first when it comes to my jewellery and I hope this reflects in the pieces I make.
Have a wonderful festive season and a beautiful new year ✨
