A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Clothes Swap (Swish) event and to the wonderful Ruth from Ecologico for her inspiring and informative talk.

We’re sure everyone took away something valuable, whether it was tips on buying and selling through preloved platforms or a deeper understanding of why reusing and re loving our clothes is so important for the environment.

Thanks to all our fantastic swishers, there was a fabulous selection of clothing to browse, and we think everyone went home with something new to love and try!

This event was part of the Bloom in Life project, funded by Point North , and we’re grateful for their support in helping us bring our community together to learn, share and make more sustainable choices.

Extra Workshops
We have lots of creative and interesting workshops that are often longer than what we can fit into our two hour evening slots. As we don't want anyone to miss out (yes that's gents included) we host these at Rise & Bloom Which is our creative hub in Hurworth.

11th July Gillian is back with Charlotte Pyrah for a textiles and cushion printing workshop
20th July we have Side Burner joining for another Pyrography chopping board workshop
19th Sept Anne from Green leaves aromatherapy will be hosting a session with some lovely scented oils to energise or calm.

These have been filmed and recorded off the back of our free seminars that we run with Point North funding for "Bloom in Life".
We've touched on subjects like ADHD, Perimenopause and beyond, Grief, Self doubt and imposter syndrome and have much more coming up.
We will continue to try and bring informative and insightful seminars to the face to face sessions but the podcasts are great to dip into if you couldn't make it but still want to enjoy the free and useful information and advice shared.

Watercolour for our Silvers.
Last month our Silver's groups got out the paintbrushes and tried their hands at some watercolour painting with help from our hosts and volunteers we got some beautiful end results. Thanks to for capturing all those smiles too!!
We are grateful to all the funders who help these session to run from The National Lottery Fund to Point North and all those who help at the session.
We are also on the lookout for some more volunteers who might like to give up a few hours once a month at one of our week day groups to help out. Making tea, setting up, being a friend or companion and mucking in where needed. If you feel like this is for you, drop us a DM.

🌈Mosaics at our Men's Group

This month we've got a night on the tiles planned for our gents. Well broken tiles that is, as we make mosaics. Either a door number or pattern to pop on a wall or planter.
Thanks to Point North we can continue to invite any gentlemen over 40+ to join us, for FREE to enrich their lives, meet new people and make some lovely connections.

“Don’t man up, speak up,” - Podcast & You Tube
We have our wonderful men's group Old Dogs New Tricks Men’s Club which is a free monthly group for men aged 40+. Funded by Point North to help enrich later lives. We've also filmed these youtube/podcasts after so people can dip into each guest speaker and topic at their leisure.

In this episode, we’re joined by stand-up comedian and poet Gareth Harrison for an honest, uplifting conversation about creativity, expression, and speaking out.

With his powerful message “Don’t man up, speak up,” Gareth shares his journey into poetry, where his passion began, and how he uses words to connect, inspire, and encourage others to open up.

Extra Workshops-Resin Trays
Join us for a hands-on creative resin workshop at Rise & Bloom Hurworth, where you’ll learn the basics of working with this beautiful and versatile medium. Guided by Chris from Memoreaz who is an experienced artist with over 15 years of professional expertise in resin art, you’ll be introduced to essential techniques for creating stunning unique designs.

Create your own beautiful resin chopping board tray in this hands-on creative workshop. Using a seascape technique demonstrated by Memoreaz tutor Chris, you’ll learn how to pour and shape resin to achieve flowing, ocean-inspired effects like the piece shown.

Alternatively, you’re welcome to bring photographs, concert tickets, or other flat mementos to embed into a resin base, creating a truly personal design. The finished boards can be used practically or displayed decoratively, and are sure to become a treasured and admired piece.

All materials are provided, and no previous experience is required. A wide variety of colours, pigments, and decorative materials will be available to help you bring your vision to life.

Once complete, your resin will need time to fully cure. They’ll be ready for collection on the Monday.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and those looking to explore a new creative medium in a relaxed, supportive setting.

Make and Mend Festival 2026
With this years Make & Mend Company festival soon approaching, we once again can't wait to join them for another year of creating. Seeing everyone come and get stuck in with amazing workshops, run by small business and artists is an amazing thing to witness and we're lucky to once again be running drop in workshops.
This year we will be creating these lovely fabric beaded jewellery/bag charms, with some beautiful patterns and fabrics to choice from. We hope to see you there.
