Based in the far North West of the Scottish Highlands since childhood I have been constantly influenced by my spectacular surroundings. Hand Painted Glassware & Polymer Clay Jewellery:
I use standard blank glass which is then carefully hand-painted in my home on the Assynt Peninsula in the North West Highlands of Scotland. It is inspired by the coastal scenery and colours found there. The decorati
on is very durable, lightfast and washable, and will give many years of service if treated with care. It will wash happily with warm soapy water, but avoiding anything abrasive. As with all glass, it is best stored away from sharp objects which may scratch the decorative finish.
'Assynt Inspirations' - Polymer Clay Jewellery:
These hand-made pieces of jewellery are made primarily from polymer clay, an incredibly versatile and very durable medium, especially suited to detailed work. An unusual quality of the clay is that it is much lighter in weight than it looks and therefore very comfortable to wear. The colours I use are individually hand-mixed with a translucent clay base. Various colour blends are then carefully rolled, layered, reduced, sliced and shaped to create an effect reminiscent of the surrounding sea-, land- and skyscapes. Each piece is sanded and polished using up to 9 grades of polishing paper, giving them a lovely finish. Sterling silver and specially chosen coloured 'artistic' wire are used to finish items to a high standard. Please do get in touch if you would like a piece of jewellery custom made. As I mix my own colours, it is possible to match jewellery to specific fabric, allowing the possibility of a perfect match for that special outfit!
