Well deserved, Rich. Thank you for your continued support of Sodbury in Bloom.

It was an absolute Pleasure to watch our very own joint Chair Rich McD receive a Mayor's Award this morning for all he does in the community. Well done Rich 👏👏🏆
Awards were also given to the wonderful Wendy Whittle for her fabulous Charity work, and to Sue & Steve Febry for their ongoing and much appreciated work in Chipping Sodbury and Yate!

As it is Volunteers’ Week our Mayor, Councillor Sonia Williams, came to meet us today to see the Community Garden and thank us for our work on behalf of Sodbury Town Council.

Don't forget, Sat 13th June is our Community Garden Open Day! Come along between 1pm and 4pm to enjoy the garden, meet our volunteers and find out more about what we do. We'll have plants and tea and coffee for sale, and most importantly, cake! You will also be helping us raise funds for our work, both in the garden and bringing colour to the high street. We had a busy morning filling the containers that go around the clock tower, above the Tourist Office. Thanks to everyone who carried bags of compost, selected the many plants and got them all planted ready to go up next week.

At the Community Garden we've got potatoes and carrots coming on nicely, some slightly timid peas, and broad beans already growing pods. We've also recently sown runner beans, parsnips, french beans and broccoli, as well as planting out some plants donated by our volunteers including courgettes, tomatoes and strawberries. If anything the raspberry is a little too enthusiastic for our liking, springing up all over the shop! Looking forward to a decent crop of fruit though.

If you're at a loose end tomorrow, our fellow In Bloom group up the road in Stonehouse are having a plant sale.

This Saturday 16th May 2:30-5pm
The Library

Due to a much cooler outlook than we hoped on Saturday, we've changed our venue to The Library. There will still be great cake, community spirit and convivial company!

Join us for some yummy baked delights and refreshments.
We'll also have musical accompaniment from 'The Elastic Band'.

There will be a great Plant Sale (from as little as 50p/plant), Stonehouse in Bloom greetings cards sets (£5 each) and our beautiful Stonehouse in Bloom Tea Towels (£10 each). We can take both cash and card payments.

It will be a great relaxing afternoon in aid of Stonehouse in Bloom.

Today our volunteers were hard at work clearing around the trees at the Community Orchard. The area had become quite overgrown with weeds since we pruned the trees earlier this year.
