One particular day, back in 2009, I was enjoying a coffee in Cheshire and checking out the jewellery people were wearing. It struck me that everything looked the
same. I decided to create something new and different, something alternative, yet high quality that could be worn every day and last for years. Inspiration came in Marbella, where a piece of skull jewellery grabbed my attention. I bought two bracelets and set out to recreate them at home. I still have the very first bracelet I made. In fact none of my original designs made it to market. I spent years searching for the best quality products that would withstand regular use. Too many beads chipped, silver tarnished, magnets fell out, elastic snapped. I’ve seen it all. Until recently you could buy Goldpunk jewellery from stands based in boutique stores across the country. As for the name, well Goldpunk reflects the punk style of the jewellery and my love for all things gold. It’s my favourite colour. I spray everything gold, from the metal cabinets in my office, to lamps, and plant pots in the garden. Friends have even been known to buy me cans of gold spray paint as gifts. Goldpunk designed bespoke pieces for Belle Voci, Chester’s opera duo, Finalists of ITV’s The Voice UK in 2018 and signers of the National Anthem at Wembley Stadium for the 2019 FA Cup Final. A Gold bracelet for Emily and Silver for Sophie. Two stars represented the two girls, and a little mix and match of each bead to bring them together as a duo. Each was individually engraved with BV for Belle Voci. Goldpunk designed team bracelets for Chester Ladies Football Club. The colours were carefully chosen to support the players in their matches.
