Yaeey. The school holidays began for us.
Yaaaasss. Don’t need to worry about early school drops offs or 3pm frantic finish work and pick up. Traffic and hecticness. Day 1 of school holiday series.
Work doesn’t stop so I asked the girls if they wanted to come with me. My middle child has always keenly helped in deeya from when she was little. My eldest supports as much as she needs to but is def not her cup of tea. I make sure it never interferes with education and I don’t involve them too much but since they have known life, it’s been around them. I also see this as extremely important. The skills she gets by dealing with clients, styling jewels, Eldest blatantly said no but she working on other things so I let her get on with it. Plus results in exactly 1 month. They have seen it all physically with me every step of the way. From me working from home, then into an office, then another bigger office and again upsizing once more into an even bigger office space, then my own store and then finally realising after 14 years it’s taking a toll on me and my health through mid 40 years and I need to just slow down and instead of pushing and pushing just be. But what happens. Im the face, personality and everything behind deeya. I’ve always worked deeya around my daughters, for them but what happens is as we keep growing our time gets stolen. You don’t realise as a small business owner what it takes to keep something going over a period of two decades. The grit it takes. The time that slips through your hands doing what you love however ppl will never value that time we give. That time we take to give. The hard work we put in to make the process easier eventually. It takes time and sabar. I’ve learnt to protect my time fiercely. I always want to be there for my daughters as a fully present parent not 24/7 stressed and worried and in the store through their very sensitive years because what happens is that as we grow our business from nothing to a 6 figure business, something will have to be sacrificed. It wasn’t going to be my time with my girls ever. So it then became my sleep. I sacrificed sleep for years and that’s a huge huge mistake. Because without me…it ends
