This Hermann Böhm enameled pin brooch is a really rare treasure, available on Etsy for £225 OBO.

The square bezel set gemstone centrepiece is found in Anglo-Saxon enameled brooches and other European medieval brooches, and the spoked disc design highlights it as drawing inspiration from Austro-Hungarian heritage finds. This firmly showcases it as a gorgeous example of renaissance revival jewellery, something Böhm was renowned for.

The brooch is an unusual find in that the six spoked design has been favoured over the more common eight spoke design, and the champlevé technique has been used in tandem with counter enameling. This means that the brooch has beautiful layers of enamel both front and back of the design, lending not only aesthetic bonuses but structural integrity too. The bright cobalt blue enamel against the deep wine colour of the gemstone is again found often in medieval colour palettes, lending a regality to this item.
