Rockers Reunion 🎸 Rockers Reunion – Live Music Night

The Earl Haig Club, Whitchurch, Cardiff
🗓 Every second Tuesday of the month
⏰ From 8:00pm
🎟 Free Entry – All Welcome

The Rockers Reunion night (or should that be The Old Cardiff Rockers Reunion ?) Most of us played in bands 50 years ago which makes us silver haired old wrinklies with someone else's teeth. So old is the operative word. And unfortunately no-one lives forever not even Cardiff Old Rockers (or Old Cardiff Rockers). So if you would like to see what an old rocker looks like and listen to his music, whi

le you still can, catch us at The Earl Haig Memorial Club, Whitchurch, Cardiff, every second Tuesday of the month at 8pm. A few years ago, '1000 Fingers' Eddie Williams had a dream: to get old rockers from the 50's and 60's back together for regular meetings to catch-up, swap stories and play a few old tunes together. CAP Wednesdays are a great success. That was fine for us players and singers to indulge our passion for music and to relive our past memories. But what about family and friends? What about old rockers no longer able to play and old rockers who had never received the gift of being able to play or sing but who still retained the love of the old songs? And, to coin a phrase, "what about the workers" who can't make Wednesday afternoons? Enter the Pi & Hash Cardiff Old Rockers Reunion. In the early days the CORR was held wherever Eddie could find a venue now, of course, a home has been established at The Earl Haig Memorial Club in downtown Whitchurch, a great venue. But all these things didn't happen by accident. They were the result of hard work; of many sleepless nights and countless headaches. Then there were the hurdles to clear and the hoops to leap through. But lucky enough Eddie has a great team working with him. The indespensible Mags Williams, Gavin Patrick Williams and Alex Williams. Not forgetting Lyn Greatrex of course. The above is the (very) abridged version of the story behind CORR and one day I hope to read the unabridged version, the blood sweat and tears version, the REAL story EDDIE "1000 FINGERS" WILLIAMS

The Rockers Reunion's monthly bash last Tuesday night, hosted local band BC 60. A Rock'n'Pop covers band with a solid backbeat. Unfortunately dancers were kinda thin on the ground but understandable when you realise that last Tuesday coincided with Pan's People's annual charabanc outing to Porthcawl. Fish and chips, a paddle in the sea, a couple of sherbets and a sing-song on the way home. Seems to be quite popular with a few Rockers.
Still, many of our staunch regulars showed up. Alan and Norman had the dance floor to themselves. (Not together, I hasten to add)
I was surprised that Delboy wasn't up there cutting a rug with the best.
Surprise visitor George Johnson was there and everyone wanted a selfie with George (he's thinking of charging a small fee nest time).
Great personality, George.
Other visitors were Phil and Caroline on a trip from Borneo (wear the Fox Hat). Lovely couple.
One of the Rockers Reunion and Whitchurch Warriors' favourite sons opened proceedings. Accomplished Singer/Songwriter/Musician, the extremely talented Stevie Finn.
One of my favourite people and gentleman of the first water.
Brilliant entertainment, great night ..............and there's another one coming up on 9th June, see you there ....

I took a few snaps

How fortunate were we to host The Fortunate Sons last Tuesday night at the Rockers Reunion. The creation of the late, great Eddie "One Thousand Fingers" Williams, Rockers Reunion has always tried to showcase bands who play all the 'good stuff', music from the fifties and sixties and a little beyond. Eddie would have enjoyed the Rockers night with Fortunate Sons, bless him. Some great covers of The Stones (my 'group', Vance and the Vaqueros supported the Stones in February 1964 at Sophia Gardens. Ask Lyn 'The Roadie') and C.C.R. - Brilliant.
Frontman, Bob Hunt with a show of unlimited energy and musical talent when halfway through a song he started playing guitar.
Multi-talented. Nice one Bob.
.. and "Lyn the Roadie played tombourine".
Oh no, it was Debbie!!
You missed it? Oh dear! You should have bought a Rockers calendar, all the dates are clearly marked. I'm afraid you missed an excellent night.
There will be more!
I just checked my Rockers Calendar and the next brilliant night at the Rockers Reunion will be on Tuesday 12th May.
See you there, Ciao

The Rockers Reunion last Tuesday night, 10th March, where the entertainment was a 'Force' to be reckoned with. The Jeddis would have played on all night, especially when the dancers refused to leave the floor. Chants of "One More" were growing louder 'til Big Lyn cracked the whip but the old softy instantly relented with, "Ok, one more and that's it!"
The night opened with a couple of "Likely Lads", regular performers at the Open Mic nights at The Earl Haig Club. Marcus and Tom played some good tunes with rather good harmonies, including a couple of Tom Petty's and the Beatles 'Norwegian Wood'.
Once again, a great night at The Rockers Reunion, a great band, The Jeddis, a couple of harmonious likely lads, a great raffle with prizes of scotch, chocolates and wine, Pan's People, Batman Jiving and M.C. Big Lyn with the hat keeping an eye on things.
What more could you ask?
See you at the next Rockers Tuesday 14th April.
I took a few snaps, hope you like'em.

Unfortunately, I couldn't make it last Tuesday night, having been laid low by the dreaded 'Lurgi'. The older you get the harder it hits you, so they say. Thank goodness I haven't reached that stage yet!
Luckily my very able understudy was on hand to save the day. Some snaps were quite good ....... I think I'll fire her tomorrow!
My spies in the music business tell me that The Pearls are quite a good band, they play a good mix of covers from over the decades. Check out the photo where the band are wearing wigs. Looks like they injected a bit of comedy as well.

I should be free of the 'Lurgi' by 10th March, the next Rockers night. May the Force be with you.

Mixed emotions early doors at the Rockers Reunion last Tuesday night. Photos of the Guv'nor, Eddie of the One Thousand Fingers who sadly passed on just before new year's eve, 30th December, streamed across the tv screen all night. A nice touch.
There was happiness and sadness, avid discussions and quiet reflection, laughter and tears. And Eddie is probably up there having a quiet chuckle to himself just before he walks on to the heavenly stage to join Bernie Poyser, Ron Curry and all the other great musicians and singers mourned by countless Rockers all over the world. Well played Ed.
Every Cardiff Rockers thoughts are with Mags and her family at this sad time. God Bless.
Rocking Paul and the Wild Cards were the band on stage here at the Earl Haig Memorial Club in downtown Whitchurch, the home of The Rockers Reunion and The Whitchurch Warriors.
Rocking Paul was true to his word and rocked our socks off. The place aws rammed early doors and at 10.40 nobody seemed to want to go home.
Early on, Lyn and Bat said a few words and tears were shed, but we were here to celebrate Eddie's life> And we did
I took a few snaps ....
Take care of each other, see you at the next Rockers .......

The Earl Haig Club is deeply saddened to share the news that our great friend, and the founder of Rockers Reunion, Eddie Williams, has passed away.

Eddie was a true character and a huge part of our club’s story. We will forever treasure the memories, stories, and countless great times we shared with him. His passion, warmth, and love for music brought so many people together, and his absence will be felt by all who knew him.

Our hearts go out to Mags and the entire Williams family at this incredibly difficult time. Eddie will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by everyone at The Earl Haig Club.

Lovely weekend in Tenby for the Blues Fest. Big Lyn and yours truly, got there about 5pm, freezing cold and soaked to the skin after traipsing around Kiln Park for what seemed like forever looking for our caravan. Up to my neck in muck and bullets on a rain-soddened November night and all I could think of was, "I'm getting too old for this Greatrex, why did I let you talk me into this!"
A very nice, warm caravan, a couple of cappuccinos courtesy of L.G., and a good night's kip and it turned out nice after all.
I took a few snaps on Saturday.
And there's more to come.
