Iām incredibly honoured to have received my invitation to the Goldsmithsā Craft & Design Council Awards, also known as the jewellery Oscars! āØļø ( which means itās almost to repaint my nails and remember what I look like in clothes that havenāt been anywhere near a workshop!)
The piece Iāve entered is a jewellery box featuring a chased design and contrast polishing throughout. A lid which doubles as a brooch, and a hidden compartment housing a pair of 18ct yellow gold, silver and diamond earrings.. Small in scale, but layered with intention quiet on the outside, full of hidden elements within.
With Collect 2026 just next week, it feels especially meaningful to reflect on this pieceās journey. It was first exhibited at Collect 2025 with First of March, who also captured this beautiful photograph.
This piece was made during an incredibly stressful period in my life, when doubt was loud and support was quieter than it should have been. Some of the voices that didnāt understand it even called it āstupidā another attempt of āindustry professionalsā trying to bring others down. It would have been easy to stop, shelve it, or listen to negativity. But I didnāt.
Regardless of whether it brings home Bronze, Silver, or Gold, Iām already proud. Proud that it exists. Proud that I endured the challenges. Proud that I stayed the course.
Today, I allowed myself to pause. I took the day off and was treated to an afternoon tea to celebrate. A gentle reminder to stop, breathe, and reflect on how far things have come. I even came home with a new addition to the garden: a small fig tree, Little Miss Figgy. It felt fitting⦠especially as I left feeling more like Little Miss Piggy after all those cakes! š
I look forward to standing in that room next month, head held high, accompanied by friends, celebrating each otherās wins, and enjoying a few cheeky tipples along the way.
