Sparkle & Co is turning 8, and I can hardly believe it! 🥹

What started as a little hobby to keep me busy on maternity leave has grown into something so special, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us over the years. Every order, recommendation, kind message and visit to the shop really does mean the world to me. 💛

To celebrate, I’m making Friday 30th & Saturday 31st October extra special! 🥂✨

❤️ A little change to opening hours over the next couple of weeks ❤️

Once again, my air fryer is going, the usual family chaos is happening around me, and I’m standing in my kitchen carefully demoulding tiny casts from a hospital visit after closing the shop today.

I think sometimes you just reach a point where everything feels a bit too much, and that’s where I’ve found myself today.

On Monday, I carried out the most difficult casting I’ve ever had to do. On Tuesday, we received the devastating news that we’ll soon be saying goodbye to our much loved family dog, Thor.

The last few weeks have felt relentless, with some incredibly difficult and emotional work coinciding with a really difficult time at home, too.

As a family, we’re heartbroken. Some of you will know that my youngest has learning disabilities, and we know this loss is going to be extremely hard for him. We’re trying to navigate how best to support him while processing everything ourselves.

I love what I do and feel incredibly privileged to do it, but I’m only human. I feel like my brain has been malfunctioning this week, and I know I need to stop pushing through and give myself a little breathing space.

So, as my son’s teacher would say, I need a little brain break. ❤️

With half term coming up, the shop will be closed on Tuesday 20th, Wednesday 21st, Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th October. I’ll be open on Fridays and Saturdays as usual, and I’ll still be working from home, making jewellery, processing orders and answering emails.

I’m just stepping back from the customer facing side of things for a little while, giving myself some flexibility to spend time with the boys, enjoy a pumpkin patch or a few days out, and give us all some breathing space.

Thank you for your patience, kindness and continued support. It really does mean a lot. ❤️

Lighting up the shop to shine a light for all the little angels I’ve had the privilege of meeting. 🤍

I was thinking earlier about just how rare and special this part of my job really is. So many of these little babies are introduced to only a handful of people on this earth, and I feel incredibly honoured to be one of those people.

To be trusted to see their precious little faces, hold their tiny hands and feet, and capture them for their parents to keep forever is something I’ll never take for granted.

Some little feet leave the tiniest footprints, but the biggest imprints on our hearts.

This light is for all of those little babies, and for the families who love them and carry them in their hearts, always. 🤍

💗💙 Baby Loss Awareness Week 💙💗

Before I started working in this area, I lived in a bit of a bubble. I had absolutely no idea how many families are affected by baby and child loss, or how many people are part of the community around it.

Since starting this side of my work, I’ve met so many lovely families. I’ve met people on some of their darkest days, and I’ve also been lucky enough to see families grow and share some really happy moments too.

It’s not something I ever expected to be such a big part of what I do, but being trusted to make something so personal and meaningful for a family is a privilege I’m incredibly grateful for.

So, this Baby Loss Awareness Week, I wanted to give something back.

This Friday 9th & Saturday 10th October, I’ll be donating 10% of all sales at Sparkle & Co to West Suffolk Sands, who support local families following the loss of a baby or child.

If you’re thinking of placing an order, these two days would be a lovely time to do it.

That’s what makes print jewellery so special. Every fingerprint, handprint, paw print and nose print is completely unique, capturing a little piece of someone you love and turning it into something you can treasure forever. 🤍

Ashes can be set in a colour of your choice, or the design can also be made with a little piece of hair or fur.

This is a particularly special piece I’ve made recently. 🤍

I don’t usually cast more than two hands together, but I’ve got to know this lovely family over the years. I first made casts of these two boys when they were newborns, and they’re now 2 and 4.

When their mum came back to me for this piece, she reminded me of something I’d written years ago:

“No one ever regrets having a casting made.”

She told me how true those words had become for her.

And I couldn’t agree more. They don’t stay this little forever, but you can keep a little piece of them just as they were. 🤍

And if you look closely, you’ll also spot the breast milk ring I made for Mum, a little extra piece of their story captured in jewellery too. 💙
