A little behind-the-scenes look at what’s on the bench today! 🛠️
I actually carved the original model for this ring out of jeweler’s wax last year, but I’m finally getting around to bringing a few more of them to life.
If you’ve been here a while, you know I usually love sand casting my pieces right here in the studio. I like being hands-on with every single step! But because of the finer details on this particular design, sand casting just wasn't giving it the sharpness it deserved. You can lose a bit of that crisp detail in the process.
So, I sent the wax model off to have a mold made and get some cast in solid sterling silver instead. They just came back in their raw, rugged form (sprues and all!), and I've already started filing them down. Next up is tumbling, polishing, and adding the dark patina to make the top engraving really pop.
