Whilst 'artisanal' is a word used liberally to describe sourdough and small-batch gin, in the context of gold it means something very different - and far more important. 🌍✨

Artisanal mining supports around 40 million people worldwide and produces roughly a fifth of the world’s gold, yet it's surrounded by myths. In truth, the challenges are real, but artisanal gold has the power to foster safer mines, fairer prices and thriving communities.

Next week, our Founder Greg Valerio is heading to Chicago. 🇺🇸

The Chicago Responsible Jewelry Conference turns 10 this year, and PeaceGold is on the agenda.

For a decade, this conference has brought together jewellers, designers, retailers, suppliers, NGOs and mining community representatives to address responsible sourcing and supply chain issues. This year’s sessions take on conflict gold in Sudan, mercury in our rivers, Ethiopia's new paraiba tourmaline source, AI and more...

In a session named 'Beyond Recycled Gold' session, Greg will be joined by Amazon Aid's Christina Miller, Fair Alloy's Andres Castellanos and Alliance for Responsible Mining / Alianza por la Minería Responsable's Vera Cittadino. This session will address gaps in recycled gold assurance and PeaceGold will be discussed as a fully traceable alternative.

It’s a long way from our base in Bishop Auckland, but the mission remains the same: Spreading the word of jewellery that works from the ground up to make positive changes to the world.

This is what we mean when we say PeaceGold is a SOCIAL enterprise. Our mission starts with people - miners in DRC and makers here in Bishop Auckland. It's the connection between these people, whether at a global or a local level, that we're really in the business of building.
