I love wearing, designing and making jewellery. Creating jewellery that people enjoy to wear gives me a huge buzz. I am inspired by the design possibilities that emerge when learning new making techniques and enjoy the challenge of finding ways to incorporate these techniques in my work. My jewellery is handmade using sterling silver, gold, gemstones, pearls and semi-precious beads. I experiment w
ith different combinations of shapes, colours and textures. I often design as I make, starting with a particular shape or gemstone that I want to incorporate in the piece. I then combine this with other materials until I have a vision of how I would like the end product to look. Some of my designs evolve from previous pieces that I feel I can add to, modify or improve. My current collections are largely based around different applications of press forming and stone setting. Press forming is a technique for creating three-dimensional shapes from flat metal sheet. I make different acrylic formers which determine the size and shape of the pressed metal. My pieces are wearable, contemporary and elegant. My jewellery is hallmarked at Birmingham Assay Office.
