My shop features handmade sterling silver wire wrapped earrings, necklaces & bracelets, knitted bow tie accessories and leather wrap jewellery.

Jewellery by Crafty Rachael - A crafty adventure! Although I am trying to forge a career within museums, I am very passionate about home crafts such as jewellery making, knitting and sewing (this is a work in progress!)

From a very young age I have had a slight obsession with beads – most of my money on family holidays would disappear in bead shops. I would then create jewellery for family and friends (or just stash them away in boxes!)

For the past five years I have shared a small crafting business with a friend – selling our handmade goods at various markets and craft fairs in the North East of England. This collection is a new venture for me. I am now branching out, experimenting with new materials such as sterling silver, semi-precious beads and combining different craft forms. As a self-taught jewellery maker I create my pieces by threading, winding and knitting the different materials. The ideas come from a wide variety of sources be it; nature, heritage or travel experiences. All of my work is designed and created in my "Craft Lab" in County Durham, England. My new favourite ring 😍. Faceted moss agate teardrop & sterling silver. This ring is a UK size M and ready to be sent to London for hallmarking. I’ve made myself one too but this one will be for sale.

Day 9: Small Businesses I love

This is a selection of small businesses I love, both local to me and others online…

1️⃣ 🌙Ashwellscrystals🌙 Sarah Gurnett Sarah sells beautiful gemstones for jewellers via Instagram Live on a Wednesday evening

2️⃣ SCRAP Leeds based in Farsley, this shop saves so many things from landfill that you never knew you needed!

3️⃣ Ginger Whale a lovely local deli and cafe. The coffee is really tasty as is the food.

4️⃣ Gorgeous gifts and cards a lovely local gift and card shop

5️⃣ Art & Soul | Handmade Art & Gifts UK is a great group of shops based in Yorkshire. The shop in Leeds has a great selection of items by local makers and artists

6️⃣ Bambinis | Play Cafe my little boy loves this local play cafe. They sell lovely toys for young children too.

7️⃣ Cascayde - Low Plastic Living they sell lovely paper tape for all your wrapping needs

8️⃣ Sarah Goodwill another local small business - they make amazing chocolates 🍫 😋

Day 8: Learning and Growing

Day 7: Work in progress

I’m working on a couple of things at the moment which I think will make lovely pieces of jewellery. My problem is trying not to keep them all for myself 🙈. Once these have been made and hallmarked in London I will let you know when they are available 🙂.

Day 5: Best Sellers or favourite makes

At the moment I enjoy making stacking rings - this is the set I wear 🙂. It includes:

- A hammered silver band with a gold setting and a blue sapphire
- A “skinny” plain gold band
- A silver band with a gold pebble
- A hammered gold band

I also enjoy making cabochon necklaces, rings and earrings. I will share some of these soon 🙂.

Day 4: Meet the maker (about me)

Hi I’m Rachael 👋 a Pitt Yakka (apparently this means a person from County Durham, who knew!) now living in Yorkshire. Here’s a few facts you may or may not know about me:

- I am a mummy to a busy Tractor loving boy 🚜
- I work as a museum curator during the week
- By night and weekends (when I have some free time) I am a jewellery tinkerer and sometimes maker. I’m working on many ideas 💡 - stay tuned
- I love baking and trying new recipes 🍰 (my fiancé loves and hates this fact)
- Travelling is my bag 🧳
- We are slowly renovating our home 🏠

Day 2: Recent Makes

At the moment I’m working on a couple of collections☺️. I will share the full collections with you when they are ready for launch 😁.

The rings and pendant will be sent to London for hallmarking soon.

The jewellery in this collage includes:

- Moss agate pendant with silver granules
- Moonstone & silver stud earrings
- Silver ring with a 9ct gold setting and a dark blue sapphire
- Kingman turquoise & silver stud earrings
- London Topaz stack - 1 silver ring, 1 silver ring with a gold pebble and a silver ring with a 9ct gold setting and a London Topaz stone
