LetsBeCats! Jewellery Unusual jewellery, 🎁 gifts & 💌cards handmade using upcycled materials ♻️ Workshops in Bucks

Welcome to LetsBeCats located in Buckinghamshire at the edge of the Chiltern Hills. I started out working with my eldest son Alex in making unusual pieces - quite different from the usual 'bead - designs' seen around. I love making quirky jewellery designs - they are often inspired by my interest in vintage and retro styles. Recycling is also very important to me and part of our ethos is to re-use

items in inventive, unusual ways. Lets Be Cats can also be found

New product alert - introducing my upcycled paper Butterfly Bunting kits.
These particular butterflies are made using pages from a 30-year old Beano annual, making them super bright and fun. I will also be making some using sheet music. Each length has seven butterflies, measuring approx 16cm across.
I am aiming to have these available as kits which will be available at over the Bank Holiday weekend (if I get my act together in time!).
This will be my first venture into creating kits - so please let me know what you think....🙏

Last night was an evening of creativity and colour! A huge thank you to all my workshop attendees and of course to for hosting the sell out event. Owners Ray and Heather are such community minded people and I regard JPS as one of the treasures of Chesham. If you haven't visited, do. It's the perfect place to stock up on gifts, stationery, and craft and art supplies.
If you like what you see and fancy making your own Kusudama flowers and butterflies, I'm repeating this workshop on 6th June at at in Berkhamsted.

NEW WORKSHOP VENUE
I'm very excited to tell you about a new venue which I'll be using for a few workshops. On Saturday 6th June we will be inside the brand new Yurt in the gorgeous grounds of the Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted. Doesn't it look great? It's beautifully light with tables and benches just waiting to be used.
I'll be teaching a small group how to make Kusudama flowers and butterflies from upcycled paper and wire. Your flowers won't wilt or fade or cause hayfever! If you wanted to take part in my sold out flower workshop at JPS Stationers in May but were unable to, then don't delay in emailing me to book your space.
The session runs from 10.30-12.30 and no experience is necessary - just the ability to cut and fold paper (we will also be using glue guns during this workshop).

Introducing Miss Mary Bennet and Mr Tom Hayward... from The Other Bennet Sister.
You all seemed as keen on them as I was, so here are my latest literary earrings.
Made using upcycled book pages, they join an illustrious group of romantic pairings in my online shop:
Lizzy & Darcy, Cathy & Heathcliff, Jane & Rochester, Marius & Cosette, Romeo & Juliet etc.
Available right now - see link in my bio - hoping to bring some to July's too.

So who watched "The Other Bennet Sister"? I absolutely loved it. An imagined take on the life of Mary, middle sister from Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" Such a joyful series, including the above scene. Terrific characterisation too - wasn't Ruth Jones dreadful as Mrs Bennet?
So, should I add 'Mary' and 'Tom' to my earring selection? What do you think? Could take some to and ...🤔

These map cufflinks, and earrings, are amongst my all time favourite things to make! Tell me a couple of locations significant to the recipient, and I will source snippets of original maps. Then et voila I can turn them into the perfect, unique and personal piece of jewellery. Perfect for Anniversaries, Weddings and Birthdays.
Which places would you choose?

Now and again I like to give a shout out to fellow small businesses and artists whose work I like. Like who runs friendly local workshops teaching a variety of techniques. I loved Monday's ink and bleach workshop, something I've never tried before. Pleased to say my Rabbit/Hare is now framed and hanging on the wall. Would recommend her!
