Can your child make their own bed like Nhiley? 🌸

By the time children reach the age of 18 and are heading off to university, they are of an age where they are expected to be able to strip and make their bed, wash and dry the sheets and be self sufficient. Sounds simple, right? But can they actually do it?

Getting in to good habits from a young age sets children up with a foundation of independence. At just 4, Nhiley is taking part in the Nano Duke award, the youngest level we have, learning to take care of herself!

She’s young AND capable! 🙌

With 10 levels of the Junior Duke Award, each with it’s own booklet and certificate, it takes time, precision and skill to get these printed and into your schools by the start of term.

We know that Scot and Alan, our local, environmentally-aware, hard-working, chatty printers will get the job done! They have scoured every letter, word, page and level to ensure top quality. Their care and time-management are second to none! 🌟 👏

Diya has created an insect haven! 🦋

Practising her presentation skills during her voice note, Diya researched, picked and planted flowers that would directly aid pollinators, helping improve the surrounding environment as part of her Gold Mini Duke.

In a world where sustainability is so important, the Junior Duke offers challenges that support the learning of sustainability in many aspects, like saving water, using less electricity, how to recycle and lowing carbon footprints, giving children a foundation to be mindful of the world around them. 🌍

Taking the lead on an adventure! ⛰️

From planning to fruition, Harley demonstrated this challenge immaculately, with a detailed plan and kit list, earning him an Outstanding Achievement! 🌟

Taking on an expedition means learning several new skills, including map reading, navigation and packing the correct equipment, some of which may not go right the first time. That’s why this Silver Senior Duke challenge asks for children to plan not one but two trips, allowing space to learn from any mistakes made from the first adventure and deciding what could be changed for next time. Learning is power! 💪
