Design Vaults Jewellery is a celebration of meticulous craftsmanship, conscious design, and the beauty of the cosmos – all lovingly handmade by Marie one piece at a time. The collections feature sterling silver, gold or resin with vibrant foils and precious metal leaf. Design Vaults is a member of the Craft Council and the Association for Contemporary Jewellery.

I have news 📣

Earlier this year I decided to move away from 9k gold plating. As I’ve continued to refine my gold jewellery designs I realised that I prefer the buttery, golden tone and reliability of 18k gold vermeil. 

Gold vermeil is a layer of real gold, at least 2.5 microns thick, that’s bonded over my recycled sterling silver and is a higher quality product than traditional 9k gold plating. Giving you that little bit of luxury without the hefty price tag of pure gold 💛

Demonstrating this perfectly is my brand new Sun necklace ☀️ I took these pics on one of my Summer Lates visits to the Roman Baths, when the sun was still shining and I didn’t need to wear a jumper…

I feel so lucky to have iconic venues like the on my doorstep.

I’ve been looking forward to the Summer Lates here for a while & it didn’t disappoint. Chilled, relaxed atmosphere, catching up with an old friend & chatting to lots of tourists in this beautiful venue.

Such a magical experience ✨

5 of my favourite pieces from the archive:

💫 The Eternity necklace is one of my all time customer favourites, and I’ve added (or removed) circles to celebrate milestone birthdays or family. It’s a timeless classic and I love it.

💫 The collection of birthstone necklaces are delicate, dainty and a classic. Green & blue are my fave colours and August babies are very lucky to have the gorgeous peridot gemstone.

💫 The Peek a Boo collection of Starburst, Star & Heart necklaces were one of my first collection launches and it’s still one of my best sellers. I’ll be adding a new piece this year to this collection at the Bath Christmas Market.

💫 The Seedpod necklace really was a labour of love to make & a challenge, it’s one of my most complex makes. I’ve very nearly finished making a new one, 3 years after the first, (it really does take a long time 😁).

💫 Last but not least, these Mini Star & Heart stud earrings in silver & gold are best sellers at the Bath Christmas Market. So much so that, this year I’ll be adding some new mini treasures to this collection.

My collections & skills have really evolved over the last 10 years, it was surprisingly hard to decide on just 5 archive faves.

We moved into our home 2 years ago this September, after it had been empty & neglected for almost 4 years.

Ragwort & a whole host of other w**ds had taken over the gardens and we spent the first year in a w**d battle - even though we’re slowly winning they do like to keep testing us 🙄😆

The build last year devoured my time & energy - alongside working…, but this year we’ve focused on the garden and I’m so happy with how far it’s progressed.

It also means I can now fill my studio vases with garden treasures 🌻 (see today’s post if you haven’t already 😉).

5 random facts about me…

1. I did a tandem paraglide in Queenstown and absolutely loved it! Now you wouldn’t get me near the edge of anything and get vertigo just looking at a cliff edge 🫣

2. Mr DVJ bought me a rally driving experience at Castle Combe. I ended up racing against 13 men and beat them all to first place. So proud 🥇

3. I met Mr DVJ at a Westonbirt Arboretum concert. He’s a kiwi and unbeknownst to him or my bestie, my brother & I were setting them up on a blind date. That obviously didn’t go according to plan! 😂

4. I spent my teenage years growing up in a pub - the best in Devizes imho love❤️

5. In my 20’s I was in South Africa on a ‘work’ trip with Ducati & Nokia and ended up as a flag girl at the start of the Super bike competition - so cool 👌

Had to add this beautifully taken photo of my Cosmic Drop necklace to the grid from - such wonderful words from Agnes too 💛

For a Monday, I feel very uplifted by todays glorious sunshine ☀️ after my Monday morning gym session with I’ll be in my studio working on this weekend’s orders - thank you for those 😊 And later this week I’m aiming to share a little peak of my new collections, which I love even if progress is a little slow - they have to be perfect before I share 💕
