George Sworder is a traditionally trained, contemporary jeweller working in West Sussex. I particularly enjoy remodelling what I call 'problematic' jewellery. Jewellery that may hold difficult sentimental feeling for the owner and as such has been left, unworn sitting in a drawer as the owner does not know what to do with it. This is common with wedding jewellery where the relationship has ended.
I believe jewellery should be worn and often items of jewellery hold great financial value. This is why I offer an emotionally sensitive and respectful service where I energy cleanse the jewellery and remodel the piece into something completely different to the desired design of the client. This process can be transformative on an emotional level for the client and allows them to move on with their life without the burden of uncomfortable memories. I have been living in Australia for the past 10 years where I trained as a jeweller. Upon returning to my home in Sussex, after leaving my jewellery community and networks in Australia, I set up the Sussex Loop Jewellery Studio from which to work. I wanted to create a creative community as I definitely thrive in a creative environment that includes other makers- it can be lonely being a sole trader maker! The Sussex Loop is a fully equipped, secure and safe jewellery studio with benches for jewellers to rent with access to shared equipment. The Sussex Loop is also a place to learn jewellery making techniques in a beautiful bright, welcoming and supportive environment nestled within the Sussex downs National Park.
