MissPlaces CIC MissPlaces supports women’s well-being through a wide range of craft activities and workshops

MissPlaces is a community business which was set up in the summer of 2017. We are a warm, friendly and supportive group, who meet regularly bringing a wide variety of interests, skills, talents and hobbies, to contribute to the economic growth and sustainability of MissPlaces. Members use their skills, both old and new, to make items to sell and just a few to mention are Jewellery, greetings cards, light up bottles and seasonal gifts, but we also sell a range of products which more specialised craft items, bespoke in nature, which can be personalised for commissioning. We have some members who excel at the more traditional home making skills, like sewing, cross stitch, knitting and crocheting. This means we can offer our service to commissioned orders for items which utilizes these skills. We also have a heat press and have recently started doing personalised printing on items. MissPlaces supports each member to be the ‘best they can be’ and aims to create a healthy ethos of well-being and wellness. Our members regularly report that attending MissPlaces has improved their self-confidence and self-esteem, reduced their social isolation, increased their skills set and expanded their friendship group. We welcome all women from all backgrounds and support everyone to reach their potential; harnessing an individual’s ‘special something’ to be more creative, purposeful and inspirational. Every member has their own ‘story’ to tell; many ladies attending MissPlaces have experienced difficult life events, and could have experienced a bereavement, have low self-confidence, low self-esteem, could have anxiety, depression, other mental health issues, or are feeling isolated and lonely. A new member can expect to be welcomed and supported by the Director, who is a Counsellor by profession, who endeavours to offer a friendly listening ear and a brew, to help with meeting the other members and settling in. For an informal chat please make initial contact by sending a private message, email us to [email protected] or ring the Director on 07513 139930.

Good morning xx

I will be catching up on Christmas orders mostly today . As away the weekend and the boys off next week.

If you are considering a Christmas display from me. Remember there is only me.

So I will need time to not only prepare but to ensure I have the stock. As every Christmas I sell out.

Already I have 4 full pages of A4 orders. Some for 7 pots. Or 3 garlands and door wreaths and kissing balls etc. So lots and lots to make.

But not a problem at the moment as lots of time to get through them. Lots of stock.

When I message you there ready would you be so kind to collect as I have limited space for storage.

Sorry to sound like a broken record. But already my storage is filling up with stock to make your orders. Little room to store finished products.

Also could you order via messenger as hard to keep track on a post. Last month I had 59000 view on my products. So many messages. Interactions. So I need it in a message to confirm. Then I can send you a image instantly via that communication on completion xx

Thank you so much for understanding

Julie xx

❤️🧸 Celebrating creativity, community and the power of women supporting women! 🧸❤️

We were absolutely delighted to be asked to support the Wigan Council Be Well Believe Sports Awards Evening, celebrating grassroots sport and the amazing people who make a difference across the Wigan area.

To mark this special occasion, we created a very special raffle prize celebrating the incredible career and legacy of Sir Billy Boston. 🏉❤️🤍💛

The beautiful bear was lovingly handmade by Becky, one of our wonderful ladies who has been attending our Tuesday evening sewing club for the past two years. When Becky first joined us, she had no previous experience of using a sewing machine — just a willingness to learn, get creative and give things a go!

Using two of her volunteer days generously provided by IRIS Software Limited, Becky put her skills into practice and created this absolutely stunning bear, celebrating a true rugby league legend. We couldn’t be prouder of what she has achieved! 🧵🪡✨

At Miss Places, we believe in the power of creativity to bring people together, build confidence and support positive mental health and wellbeing. Through our creative workshops and activities, we provide women with opportunities to learn new skills, connect with others and discover what they are capable of.

This bear is so much more than a raffle prize — it represents confidence, creativity, community and the amazing things that can happen when women are given the opportunity to flourish. ❤️

A huge thank you to Wigan Council for inviting us to be part of such a fantastic event, and to IRIS Software Limited for supporting Becky with her volunteering days.

Empowered women empower women! ❤️
