Yesterday I went skiing with Vicky. Great snow, hot and sunny. VERY hard at the top which surprised me (skiing on the Stormriders for the first time in I don't know when), did eventually work out how to get the edges to work though!! 🤣
Vicky skied brilliantly considering she's hardly skied this winter, she used the Aztec Pros which were probably a little better on the hard stuff. Lovely snow en route for 2600m though, that squishy spring snow almost to the 3S. She went up again today on her own and skied 3200 to 2600 alone for the first time - twice. Chapeau Vicky!!

I went skiing today!! Bad start as Diable was closed which I found AFTER I'd walked up the hill to it! Back down to wait for a bus to the centre and thence up the Jandri 3S to 2600m.

From there I skied down Grand Nord (is it still called that?) on to the third section of Bellecombe 2, down there and on to the Bellecombe lift. Up that, down all 3 sections of the Bellecombe 2, fabulous spring snow throughout. then back up again to Bellecombe 3 (poor video - sorry, couldn't actually see the screen), down the link and then to Vicky's Bete Noir which was also lovely. At the bottom of the Y I found an old man standing there for a long time. He told me he was fine, but hadn't skied for 2 years due to an accident, and couldn't remember how. He had all the gear - SL skis, SL protection helmet, lots of stuff on his jacket. I thought he was following me, but he didn't ... so my neighbour Nereya was on the lift and I told here, she kept an eye out for him. Hope he got off the mountain safely.

Back up Jandri 3S to the glacier, where I made the mistake of having a break, and my muscles siezed up, so skiing back downt the Breche wasn't great. Took the secret piste of Breche and the gully back down to 2600m. By then it was 2pm and the snow was going off.

Knackered!

Me with Austin today

11/04/2026

It was another lovely (but hot) day today. The snow on Cretes was very firm early, but softened up. I was skiing with Austin, who was doing really good stuff. I discovered that I could still do the rumba, and more or less do the charleston :O Gosh - haven't tried either for at least 20 years!!!! We found better snow when we looked for it, and after skiing with Austin I managed a run or two with Vicky who was making a lightening visit. Again, just looking around, finding the parts of the runs less skied (even Taura) and we skied some REALLY NICE spring snow. Stop and look and you will find! :D

It's been great having 'my german family' the Hagedorns (and others) here this week, some fun skiing, even though a bit tough for my poor old knee! Finished off with a lovely meal tonight. So great to see old friends every year. This year is 24 of skiing with them :O Next year?? 25, but whether I can manage it will be a different matter!!!

LOVELY TO SEE YOU ALL. Safe journey home. 🥰🥰

It was lovely and sunny today, but very cold and that wind, while not as bad as yesterday (which was proper Scottish), In some spots, out of the wind it was positively balmy!
Quite a few morons out and about this week though. Schussing the Cretes, both green and blue, sometimes making it difficult to ski regular turns. GRRR.
There is shedloads of snow, and it's very pleasant skiing. I hope they keep everything possible open until the end - that would be soo nice.

Erik, Linus, Nele and Krissy are all enjoying their skiing. I would enjoy it a lot more without the morons!!

HUGE dump overnight - 15cms down here and a good 20 up in resort. We were skiing fresh snow on the nursery slopes! It's still snowing BTW!! :O
Day 4 for my guys and some 'real' off piste, and adventures in the trees over by the Champamé. I hope it's a nice day for them tomorrow. Nice to spend a little time with Kris too.

This week I'm helping 2 beginners - why? Well, many years ago, while still working for the ESI St Christophe I taught this lady, Rita. 3 or 4 times. I remember she was nervous, but kept trying. Her husband is an avid and very good skier, Rita has stopped skiing. So Kris asked me to help his 2 pals who are beginners. How could I say no?
It's exhausting!! :D and much too hot, so off up to Cretes tomorrow for some cooler air!! :D :D
