Born and raised in Los Angeles California –Susan acquired a taste for colors and design as far back as she can remember. Always the graphic artist she studied art in LA and Santa Monica City Colleges in Los Angeles California receiving an AA Degree before going abroad on a cultural leave of absence in 1986. With a love for culture and travelling this is a welcome challenge for Susan who finds and buys her materials from a multitude of international resources. The love of beads is definitely the principal element and inspiration in her work. The history of beads goes back as far as mankind exists while the bead market existed in all African, Egyptian, Oriental, Middle Eastern, European and Native American cultures and heritages. Each culture has their traditional values in jewellery, beads and artwork. Originally it was the exquisite beadwork of the Native American Indian culture that brought Susan’s heart towards this type of creative activity, but with an eye for detail and fashion as well… her style and taste can vary from an African style to an Eastern Indian style in a wink of an eye. It all depends on the bead and the mood of the day!
