There are people and places that get under your skin, that feel immediately like home… an intoxicating mix of familiarity, recognition, ease, truth, trust and vulnerability.

I just returned from the Béarn region in South west France after spending a few days with and who were drawn to create a home, creative residency and their ateliers in this lush, ancient, mystical place.

For my very last issue of FAIRE - I have gifted myself the task of personally capturing several stories of people very dear to my heart… creatives I’ve followed and loved from close and afar… and

When anyone asks how I choose the stories - in many ways I don’t - they choose me, they find their way to me, into my heart and onto the pages.

Making FAIRE and sharing all of these magical, gorgeous creatives these last five years has been such an immense honour. Knowing that we’ve built a family of sorts, that words have touched so many around the world, connecting, offering solace, comfort and courage to continue on our own creative adventures, no matter how salty the path in the moment.

I’m not the same person I was at the start of this adventure - from the belly of the pandemic came this wild idea to create a magazine. I carry and am carried by all these beautiful people who have come into my life and I’m going to miss making .press but am grateful for every single moment and story. ❤️

An abandoned orchard in Gascony. While waiting (praying) for the sun to burn through the clouds, I drove the roads between Camont and Nerac and pulled the car over on a dirt track to capture these scenes, manmade structures reclaimed by nature.

Spending a few days with .france and at Kate’s home in Gascony, South West France. Kate refers to her adopted region as the ‘Potager’ of France, everything is lush and fertile, the earth pulsates with life and promise.

This morning we drove to visit Nicholas, a local organic farmer to pick up some freshly picked fèves for lunch and I (obviously) fell in love with this unexpected old floral textile curtain thrown over the packing area of the greenhouse.

Waking early to start a week long road trip from Provence to Gascony on assignment for a magazine I absolutely adore and admire. Then on to Pays Basque to meet and shoot artists I admire before finishing with a fab shoot in Paris.

Barely slept a wink last night, a combination of excitement and nervousness…

The last few months have been a much needed return to hands-on creativity for me… making jewellery again after a ten year hiatus… getting out and shooting more stories and embracing my love for photography and people. It’s been a strange transition from overseeing and managing other creatives with Faire to identifying and then listening to my own needs as a creative (as a woman more globally ❤️). It’s less about ego and seeking recognition and more about a physical need to create and connect and slow down. It’s a new season of life and I’m embracing it with a blind trust that this is where I’m meant to be - right now in this moment - and that everything will work out. I know from talking to so many of you that I’m not alone in feeling my way into new seasons, rhythms, modes of thinking, loving, creating. It’s at once a lot but also just right.

Will share lots in my stories - so come with me ❤️

I’m looking forward to sharing my friend Bénédicte with you on the pages of FAIRE. As the stories for issue 14 come together - one emerging theme is the idea of new beginnings. Moments that call on fearlessness, resilience and creativity. Like the tradition of Arte Povere, my friend Bénédicte has an intuitive talent for finding the lowliest, simplest of things and seeing the beauty in them. In her home she creates tableau’s from her ever-changing family of found and ‘chine-d’ objects and gathers, feeds and nourishes those she loves around her table.

You can find beautiful glimpses of Benedictes life over on

b - thank you for lunch today and for your friendship which I cherish ❤️

Moments from today’s impromptu picnic in .residency with my friend .antonova.design

Trying to find a place to eat on a Monday, in Provence, in Winter - is no mean feat so we settled on the idea of a glorified picnic of sorts. Quiches, cake and coffee to accompany fours hours of chat about best laid plans and uncharted territories.

Shifting light in one of my favourite villages in Provence.

I’ve been dreaming up a Storyteller retreat this autumn in Provence - exploring homes and spaces with a gorgeous team of creative mentors.

If this sounds like something you’d like to know more about just drop me a DM and I can add you to the waitlist.

“Our lives disconnect and reconnect, we move on, and later we may again touch one another, again bounce away. This is the felt shape of a human life, neither simply linear nor wholly disjunctive nor endlessly bifurcating, but rather this [...] sequence of bumpings-into and tumblings-apart”
― Salman Rushdie, The Ground Beneath Her Feet

This winter has been a trip. A pretty brutal season offset with intervals of the sweetest, most delicious of gifts. Learning, unlearning…and repeat. The ghosts of my burnout still punish with heavy, sluggish, hopeless days but thankfully these have become less frequent and have been replaced with shockingly illuminating moments where I feel electrified with a will to dream and plan and conjure up a life filled with soft, dusty light. Grateful to get another season and know every lesson is worth learning. ❤️

We drove two hours south to the coast… chasing sunshine and the intoxicating scent of salty sea air. After a lunch on the port of Cassis we got our walking boots on and hiked along the coastline of Les Calanques.

Honestly the best kind of medicine. We returned with hot, sun-kissed faces scattered with a few new freckles, and the promise to come back and spend a weekend soon.

The season has suddenly and dramatically shifted and I am slightly giddy at the promise of warmer days

I just received one of my favourite annual gifts… an illustrated calendar by my friend

Every year she dedicates precious time to creating a very personal body of work which becomes this gift. This years theme is ‘De Main de Maitre - Éloge de l’intelligence de la Main’.

She opens her calendar with a beautiful introduction writing, “my drawings seek to highlight the ancient union between the head and the hands. This unbreakable bond transforms the craftsman into an artist through mastery of exceptional skills executed with a masterful hand.....At a time when AI is compiling out knowledge, perhaps it is in DOING that our humanity survives”

Will share more exquisite pages in my stories

Merci Julie for your friendship which I cherish and the remarkable beauty you nourish us with.
