What if we’ve been asking the wrong question?
We spend a lot of time asking where consciousness lives. Is it in the brain? Somewhere else?
But information doesn’t really have a location.
The words in a book are ink on paper. The story isn’t the ink. Music isn’t the grooves in a record. A photograph isn’t the pixels on a screen.
Maybe consciousness is something similar. Maybe the brain isn’t creating it so much as organizing information into an experience.
I don’t know if that’s true.
But changing the question often changes the answers we’re able to find.
So here’s my question...
If consciousness is information... what would that mean for intelligence—biological or artificial?
