Of course people matter ... homes have been destroyed or badly damaged, trees ripped up and people injured in the destructive tornado which swept through Pomas, a village south Carcassonne, .... and the local community rallies round to house them and provide essentials ...

With the considerable damage to the XII siecle Chateau of Pomas there is also a huge historic loss .. not just the structure and walls but the treasures inside ... these beautiful painted ceilings...

2 brooches hand made and one of a kind in polymer clay with wire inclusions.

While my polymer clay is still too hot to work with … I’ve been playing with some experimental cured pieces, including a fascinating tightly pleated strip .. an interesting accident while rolling out my clay. To make it more challenging I’ve incorporated wire mesh, spring and square gold wire.

I encountered some problems incorporating with wire in the first cure, which I hope I can overcome next time … I still have a selection of beads to play with.

These delicate colours are difficult to photograph on white board and I think the coloured card shows off the details better.

It’s too hot again to work in my studio … though I have a few pieces to complete when I have dared turn on the oven!

Meantime .., this appeared in my memories today … from à workshop at thé Bordeaux IPCA symposium, where I met many polymer clay artists .. and teachers. This is inspired by Melanie West’s workshop Beauty from the Ugly … very wabisabi! Melanie was one of my influential artists .. though now stepping back from polymer clay. .. and these are some of the last pieces I made in 2016 before my house fire, which destroyed everything.

Interesting that I have been focusing recently on organic forms .. brooches … I have planning to create an octopus brooch … and here is something very similar!

Too hot to be creative in my studio with 2 weeks of canicule … and 2 more to come🥵
… so relaxing, planning?….
Time to make more bottle dolls to keep my mind and fingers happy ?.

I have Phyllis Fish, F***y Flamingo … Polly Parrot and Marina Mermaid,
What next?
A tiger or leopard?
A butterfly .. or bat?
A snake or Lizard?
Octopus … ?
A humming bird or Kingfisher?
Or even a cat or dog?

Any ideas? … and a name for each one?
