Every CAD session begins before the design does. Parameters re-entered by hand. Imported geometry that refuses to behave inside a system it was not built for. A ring size read from the model by whoever set it up last, or not read at all, and approximated. The design work has not started, and time has already left.

RhinoArtisan 6.8 addresses several of those recurring friction points in a single release.

Default Settings allows teams to define preferred parameter values once, applied across all commands. The Standardize command converts external CAD geometry into editable RhinoArtisan models without rebuilding from scratch. Estimate Size reads ring size automatically from any imported model, including STL files. Gemstone reporting now works by selection, so production teams can generate targeted reports for specific stones and export directly to excel, without pulling the entire project into the same document.

There is a production team generating gemstone reports today that includes every stone in the project because the tool has never offered them a different option. They have been filtering the export manually. They assumed that was how it worked. Now, there's no need on doing that.

Design with RhinoArtisan | Tutorial

A snowflake pendant built from scratch takes most designers the better part of a morning. Construction lines, symmetry passes, gemstone placement, prong generation, cutters, Boolean cleanup, and then a render that holds up to client scrutiny. Each step is correct. The sequence is not the problem. The time is.

In this tutorial, the full workflow runs inside RhinoArtisan from the first curve to the final production-ready model. Polar arrays handle the symmetry. On Network places gemstones along the geometry automatically. Dynamic Prongs generates and mirrors in one pass. The cutters seat correctly because the tolerances are calculated, not estimated.

The file that comes out the other side is not a visual approximation. It is a model with clean mesh, correct wall geometry, and seated stones that will survive casting. The difference between a file that looks finished and a file that is finished tends to show up at the factory floor, not at the design desk.

The tutorial covers every step: curve construction and offsets, Boolean operations, Quick Polar Array for symmetry, solid extrusion, layer organization, gemstone placement with On Network, prong generation and mirroring, cutter application, and final preparation for rendering or production.
