Oh, my followers, my friends, I have been such a sh*tty instagrammer!!! How badly I owe you a post!!! A while ago, in a moment of exhaustion, I updated my bio to say I'm taking a break to renovate a house. But I felt it's time to let you know what's going on here! Well, we're heading fast from autumn into winter, with snow on the mountains above us and a potential sprinkling in our village on Friday morning... while this is fun, it's not ideal to not have a roof on the house!!! We've got about half of it water-proofed (largely) now, but we need a run of many dry days to do the rest. And then tiling..... 😳 We currently live in the basement, about 30m2 of bed space, and make shift kitchen (read very basic!). Not only is it not insulated, but it's not remotely airtight, with cracks everywhere where the wind comes in. We have a heater, it helps. It's now too cold for the dogs to spend time outside, so we have to entertain them with ball-throwing sessions in the garden, and this week I have taken back my power by taking them out for runs between the rain. Otherwise, they're in a cave with no light! It's tough. But together, we are exploring some absolutely amazing parts of where we live. And we've accomplished a LOT! We've dismantled all the layers of an 1892 house, we've hoisted down, chain-sawed to clean wood and rehoisted up some ancient oak beams that weigh a ton, we've survived 2 crazy wind storms of well over 100km/h... while the house was covered in tarps...it was havoc. Rob (hubby) even took a flying rock to the head. He's no more damaged than he was before! 😆 But the strength of the wind was insane. Anyway, here's a little collection of some house pics and some beautiful pics of where we are! I hope to be able to make jewellery again sometime "soon".... but the reality is, it's going to be many months!!!! This is all-encompassing like I didn't know all-encompassing could be! Our previous renovation project in Cape Town was just a gentle introduction...😆😆😆 Anyway, I hope you'll all keep following me both for my one-day jewellery and out of interest in the madness that is our Asturian life now! Big love from inside all the winter woollies that I own!!!
