In Celtic and later Scottish tradition, the quaich is known as the “cup of friendship.”

It was used to share a drink of whisky or mead as a sign of trust and goodwill between hosts and guests, or to seal bonds between families and clans.

The two handles allowed the cup to be offered and received with both hands, showing that neither person held a weapon and that the drink was shared in peace. For this reason, the quaich is also often used in wedding ceremonies, where the couple drinks from the same cup as a symbol of unity, trust, and friendship.

All Quaichs are adorned with classical Celtic paterna, likes the Neverending Knot or the stylized versione of animals, plants or elements spirits.
