Psyche was a beautiful princess who fell in love with Eros (Amor, Cupid), the god of love. Before she could marry him, she had to endure terrible trials. Her story is often understood as the redemption of the soul through love.
At the same time, the abstract forms of the collection evoke associations with Rorschach inkblot tests, posing the question: “What do you see?” Our thoughts, emotions, and psyche are deeply intertwined with the structure of the brain itself, and some pieces from the Saiki series look as though they have passed straight through an MRI machine.
