According to legend, St. Patrick chased all the snakes out of Ireland. Nobody seems entirely certain where they went, but we have reason to believe a few eventually made it to Copenhagen.
The reverse of the ARC II — Chronomara features a particularly enthusiastic serpent, rendered in green, white, and orange on our fourth-generation Glowpatch caseback. This latest version uses high-fidelity pad-printing on the underside of a flat sapphire crystal, producing a wonderfully crisp luminous image.
There is, of course, a slightly more respectable geological explanation for the snake. Connemara marble contains a high proportion of serpentinite, a mineral assemblage named for its resemblance to snakeskin in both colour and texture. Given the material at the heart of the Chronomara, the association seemed too good to ignore.
Beneath the Glowpatch sits the Swiss automatic La-Joux Perret G101 movement, offering a 68-hour power reserve.
A little geology, a little Irish folklore, and a snake that appears to have found a welcoming new home in Denmark.
No saints, no sticks, just watchmaking at its wildest.
