Our favorite lots from this week’s Geneva auctions!
I. Patek Philippe 2523 ‘South America’. Phillips, 9 May. Polychrome cloisonné, two crowns, one continent. CHF 5–10M, give or take a small fortune.
II. Patek × Tiffany 5711/1A-018, Estate of Quincy Jones. Christie’s, 11–12 May. The Tiffany dial gets you the watch. Quincy gets you the story.
III. Cartier Crash, Paris re-edition 1991. Sotheby’s, 10 May. 400 pieces, signed Paris, no apology owed to the London original.
IV. A. Lange & Söhne Grande Complication, 1916. Sotheby’s, 10 May. Fifth of nine. The only one in pink gold. Off the public market since before the Second World War.
V. Rolex Daytona ‘JPS’ Ref. 6241. Sotheby’s, 10 May. 14k yellow gold, made for the American market and rare from the day it left Geneva.
