Two-tone plating using a plating pen (pen plating) is an efficient and precise method for selective multi-color plating in jewelry manufacturing. Unlike traditional "immersion" bath plating—which requires the application of insulating lacquer for masking—pen plating utilizes a specialized electrode-equipped pen. Instead of submerging the entire piece of jewelry in a plating bath, the metal coating is "painted" directly onto specific areas, much like drawing with a pen.

Process:
When the pen tip, saturated with plating solution, makes contact with the jewelry surface, the circuit closes and an electrochemical reaction occurs. Driven by the electric current, metal ions in the solution rapidly reduce and deposit a uniform metal layer onto the specific area traced by the pen tip.
