Louis Moinet

Louis Moinet INVENTOR OF THE CHRONOGRAPH "Louis Moinet" is a Swiss luxury watch brand named after one of the most influential watchmakers of 19th century, Louis Moinet.

Located in Saint-Blaise on Lake Neuchâtel in Switzerland, Louis Moinet is an independent company passionately run by founder Jean-Marie Schaller. He has made the Louis Moinet brand into one of which its
namesake would have been proud, deftly incorporating the legendary watchmaker's principle passions of art and horology. "We are a real brand with a real tradition," says Schaller. "It’s important

to me that we honour the heritage of Louis Moinet, who was both an artist and a brilliant watchmaker, and write new chapters of his history as if he were alive."

Some inventions have an aesthetic appeal that transcends the centuries and becomes the hallmark of a contemporary collection. The world’s first chronograph, created by Louis Moinet in 1816, stands out as a prime example.

Even 210 years later, its DNA continues to inspire and now serves as the blueprint for a new timepiece: the 1816 TOURBILLON CHRONOGRAPH.

This new masterpiece features a grade 5 titanium case housing the LM114 calibre, combining a monopusher chronograph with a flying tourbillon and a 96-hour power reserve. Architectural lines, refined finishes and historic codes shape its distinctive aesthetic.

To celebrate the 210th anniversary of the world’s first chronograph, a new 1816 CHRONOGRAPH edition is unveiled in a warm champagne colour.

The aesthetic codes of the original model have been given a totally new interpretation but one that is always in keeping with the traditional codes of haute horlogerie.

On the dial, this champagne shade adds depth and warmth to the visual composition and creates a refined contrast with the blued steel hands.

The double-gadroon case, in polished and satin-finished grade 5 titanium, measures 40.6 mm and is composed of 51 parts. It retains its original Directoire style semi-bassine design with a smooth case middle.

The champagne colour appears again on the intermediate links of the bracelet. It highlights its distinctive U-shaped architecture, while satin and polished finishes enhance its fluid, ergonomic design.

The LM1816 calibre has 330 components, including 34 jewels, and runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour. The instantaneous minute counter, the column wheel control, and the swan-neck regulator draw the expert eye, as they are hallmarks of authenticity, care and quality of the movement.

Celebrating the Year of the Fire Horse with the TOURBILLON PUZZLE FIRE HORSE, a timepiece featuring the special métier d’art technique of micro-painting on a puzzle dial.

Composed of 81 pieces arranged over four levels, the puzzle demonstrates the complexity and refinement of this specific craft.

On the dial, the horse appears to be in the midst of an exultant gallop. Its mane, a flame in motion, amplifies its sense of power.

SPEED OF SOUND is powered by the legendary Valjoux 88 chronograph movement.

Its transparent case back reveals hand-engravings featuring a traditional motif, with floral curves and delicate scrolls reminiscent of lace.

Housed in a 40 mm Grade 5 titanium case, it is elegant and light on the wrist. The sapphire dome magnifies every detail of the dial, while the openworked horns allow the rubber strap to fit perfectly.
