Unique piece in the making.

Silver base plate hand engraved by my talented friend Maëlle from . Giving such depth, all by hand, on a piece of metal not thicker than 0.30mm is already a challenge.

Now, the difficult enamelling process can start. Hopefully the delicate engraving work won’t be ruined during the successive steps to come. 🤞🏼

I am happy to share the prototype of a piece I had in mind for quite some time.

Inspired by the work of the English designer William Morris (1834-1896), here is the Ref.1125-CL Tapestry 1.

The cloisonné enamel dial uses transparent shades for the floral pattern, which allows to see the hand-guilloché work on the white gold base plate. This gives the flowers and foliage a unique play of light. The rest of the dial is enamelled with a semi-opaque greenish grey shade.

For the prototype, I kept the surface unpolished. It was glazed during a last firing, making it more traditional-looking - I’ll share some videos later.
