Five indications, one architecture.

The dial of the GMT Balancier Convexe is built as an amphitheatre, tiered so that each function has its own level. Hours and minutes sit at the outer ring. Small seconds and the 72-hour power reserve occupy their own positions without crowding the composition. A second time zone is read on a dedicated ring, day and night on another, and universal time from the globe itself.

Everything is placed where the eye expects it. That is the harder kind of complication.

Not a decoration. An indication.

The titanium globe at the centre of the GMT Balancier Convexe turns once every 24 hours, in the same direction as the planet. Universal time is read from the globe itself rather than from a hand. From above, the northern hemisphere. Tilt the wrist and the south appears.

You are not reading a time zone. You are looking at it.

The Earth sets the colour 🌍

Since the first Greubel Forsey GMT, the titanium globe has carried its seas in blue, turning once every 24 hours in step with the planet.

This edition of the GMT Balancier Convexe extends that blue outward, across the amphitheatre of its movement architecture, along the hand-sewn rubber strap, and into the inserts of the titanium crown.

Beneath it, 496 components in a titanium Convexe case of 42.9 mm. On the reverse, a sapphire disc engraved with 24 cities, La Chaux-de-Fonds among them. The latest and only GMT in our collection, limited to 22 timepieces.

Six finishes. One balance bridge. Barrel-polished, black-polished, straight-grained, beveled, polished flanks, polished countersink. Each surface a different discipline. Each one executed by the same pair of hands, on the same bench, in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

It took almost 35 times longer to make the complete tourbillon cage than for a standard high-end tourbillon. Not 35% longer. 35 times. Every component of the cage cut, corrected, and adjusted without modern machine intervention – on a bench, by a single pair of hands, in the Hand Made workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The finished cage weighs 0.52 grams. The time invested in it is immeasurable.

In a highly mechanised industry, the words “hand made” have been stretched until they mean almost nothing. At Greubel Forsey, the definition is transparent and strict – all components except five are crafted by hand using traditional tools such as a precision lathe, a jig-borer, or a pantograph. Each component is manually machined with tolerances of just a few microns, achieving a precisioncomparable to modern CNC machines. Over 5,000 hours for 270 components. Two, perhaps three, timepieces per year. This is not a marketing claim. It is a declaration – of what the word should always have meant.

Within 39.6 mm, a landscape 🌅

The movement of the Balancier QM is built in depth - the escapement set low in the architecture, the small seconds above it, the barrel below, the flame-blued hands and chapter ring higher still. Every level asks the eye to travel.

There are not two standards of hand finishing at the Atelier. A three-hand timepiece receives the same attention as a Grande Sonnerie — every surface, every component, held to one level of ex*****on.

Qualité Musée adds a single demand on top, and it is a demanding one: that each component, on its own, can be appreciated as a work of art.

Balancier QM is where that demand takes shape.

We have never measured ourselves by how much we make, but by how well we make it.

Work at the level of the Balancier QM comes at a cost, and we accept it. The advancements it introduces - in-house hairsprings, a new escape wheel geometry, convex pallet jewels, wider bevels - will now travel across the entire collection.

The aim has never changed: to do the best, not the most.
